Question about EQ5

Hope someone can help me with this.

DH bought me EQ5 for my birthday. I've been playing around. When I design a quilt, I go to look at the yardage required. Looking at the preview on the screen, the print is really small. I use the zoom in button, but it does nothing. The only way I can see the yardage is by printing a hard copy.

If anyone knows what I'm doing wrong please let me know. It's got me baffled.

Thanks.

When you select ZOOM IN you have to use the mouse to identify the part of the screen you want to zoom in on - like in the designing tables. Just click and hold the left mouse button and slide over the page to cover what you want to see. When you release the mouse button that part of the screen will be enlarged.

BTW - did you know EQ6 is not available on pre-order for release in November? Don't panic, you can get an upgrade package for your EQ5 for about $50 I think. I just ordered mine. Can't wait to see what new border features they have come up with.

If you want to play with EQ there is a group of us from rctq who have a Yahoo group. If you want to join just let me know. We do virtual swaps and help each other with designs. There are also a LOT of EQ resources on the web. We have a list of links on the group too.

I know this won't help, but I just got a notice that EQ6 is about to ship and they fixed a problem with viewing(?) yardage. I started to order it, but the shipping is $7! I guess they are going to bring it by Limousine service.

In view of this I am currently e-mailing uk suppliers to see if they are taking orders yet.

If I don't get any joy I will plague the stands at the Chilford Quilt Show on November 10th!!

DH has already been advised that this is my Christmas present. It is a bit of a joint present because, although he doesn't sew at all he has put it on the laptop so he can play pretty patterns! He took it on holiday for something to do when we couldn't understand French TV and he had read all his books in the evening.

You're so right! I can only dream of $7.00 shipping. Even from one side of Melbourne to the other!

For $40 shipping I also got 2 other CDs, but I hardly think that would make much difference. Shipping within and out of the States is CHEAP compared to the costs for the rest of us.

I suspect that a lot of the cost is due to packaging. If you can't get a real good price in the UK it is probably still worth getting from the US, even if you have to get it forwarded from some friendly rctq'er without all the extraneous packaging.

Oh, don't think that I don't know it! But here's the thing: they can use Media or Parcel post for less than $3. They can send it Priority for about $4. Charge me more for the product only don't insult my intelligence by telling me it's gonna cost $7 to mail it to me.

Boy do I feel like such a dope. I was finally able to get to the computer, and it was so easy.

I am definitely going to look at purchasing this.

Sounds interesting, but I do not have enough experiencein either quilting or EQ to be able to participate a whole lot. It may be fun to at least read what is going on. I would probably learn a lot, like I do here.

On second thought, I may be interested in the group on EQ. I'm sure I'll be able to get a lot of information about EQ. I was messing with it today, and I got so frustrated. I definitely need some help. :
