Sick Machine and Ott Lites

First, do you have an OTT Lite and do you like it? I have a 50% coupon and would like a better light near my machine in my little corner of the computer room. If I was to get one I would get a table top version. Just wondering.Now to my irritated rant. Of course, I am the one that sews on my machine frequently but I don't know anything about it according to the repair store. My Viking Designer I quit in the middle of a design this weekend. I had wondered about it, since just before I bought it from my Mom, the power supply was recalled for a potential safety problem, catching on fire, although only two out of the thousands in existance had been so affected. Then the transformer was recalled, this instance the transformer is just quitting, after I had bought it from my Mom, and the store where she has shopped for 30 some years let her know so she could let me know. So this last summer I took the machine in to get it checked if it was in the serial number range. "Oh no, there has only been one recall. You've wasted your time bringing in your machine." I explained what I knew, showed my documentation, and they would not take my machine to check it out. Now to this weekend. And it stops, and wastes my thread and fabric and time, and when I take it in and finally am able to talk to the sales clerk that I like, AND knows what is going on and what she is talking about, said that yes, there was a second recall, and it sounds exactly like what my machine was doing, and smelling like (not good). So, it is at the doctor's and will be at least another week, longer if they don't have the recalled part in stock. GRRRRRR! I forgot her name, but you can bet that she will be the only person that I talk to from now on when I go to the only dealer in town.If I'm wrong, I'm wrong, but please don't just dismiss me out of hand when I have supporting heresay, evidence and documentation. At least I have my Lily to keep me going. So much for trying to get some Birthday...

I have both a table top version (not the quilter's version -- a cheaper one that's identical except for color and lack of handle and that I bought at an office supply store years ago) and the floor version (a gift from my DDs one Christmas). I do like them very much. The light is a good one, and it doesn't seem "glare-y" as so many lights do.

As for your SM, Steve, my condolences. I hope it gets fixed -- and fixed right! -- very quickly.
