SM and Computer Woes

My SM's are broken and now my computer has decided it wants to act out. I hate to ask what next. My sewing machine has decided it no longer wants to work. It will either not work at all, or go all by iteself depending on if the petal is pluged in before you turn it on or after. I have my grandmother's machine as a back up, but when I went to use that one the wire hook thingy (real technical I know) is partially broken off so I can't thread it. It is going to be awhile before they get fixed. The gentlman who does the reapairs at my dealer is out because of hip replacement surgery and he currently has a long line up waiting for him when he gets back (which should be soon). So instead of sewing, I was going to be doing some oraginzation on all my hobby files on the computer, however my computer is being tempermental. It is getting so bad that I'm tempted to just scrap the thing and get a new one. I haven't like it much from the start, problem is that was only about 6 mo. ago and we don't have the money to throw at buying computers that often. So instead I just get to deal with it, and hope that in his spare time, DH can figure out what is issue is and fix it for me. So far he's had no luck, so we'll see. At least it is still running I guess (for now). Things are backed up just incase.I think I'm going to go nuts waiting for a working machine!!! I'm going to be seeing my parents in about 3 weeks for my DNephew's Bday, so my mother is bringing along her 25+ year old Bernina for me to use until I can get mine fixed if I can make it that long. Luckily I do have 9 charity quilt tops waiting for me to layer and tie, but I want to sew some more tops and a few other misc. projects I had panned out. I was on a roll!!Ranting over. Would save me some money if that were it, but then I wouldn't have an excuse for DH as to why I would need to replace my foot petal with the upgraded one either. I"ll check it out and see if I can get into it to see if that is the problem. You all are so helpfull. I should have asked for suggetions when it first broke last week. Maybe I could have had it fixed myself by now. ; )

Plugging my ears and theirs hoping they didn't hear that. That would be all I'd need!!!! I may not be able to sew, and may have issues with my computer, but at least I can still give the family clean clothes and some good food on clean dishes. It has acctually been good for my house. It's cleaner since I can't avoid housework by spending 'just a few minutes' on my quilts. It has been so easy for me to do the 5 min. here 10 min. there thing now that I have a place for my mahcine. And it's in the center of the house too, making it a lot easier. I was really getting alot done, especially when compared to the old days ~ dragging everything out of the closets and packing, setting up for just a few minutes of sewing time before it needed to be packed back up again.
