Babylock Quest --- thumbs up, thumbs down or neutral? A friend is about to buy one and wanted me to ask around.

Depends on how big a gamble she wants to take. Seems like we've had two here. One was just fine; the other couldn't be made to work no matter what or who. That bummer was finally sold cheap just to get rid of it. IMS - meaning 'if memory serves'. Polly

I really like mine. Sews wonderfully. However, it isn't getting much use now-I bought the Brother Quattro. What an awesome machine. I've had many machines in my day, but nothing that sews and embroiders like the Quattro. It's in a class by itself. Once I do more embroidery, I'll use the Quest for everything else. I still can't figure why Musicmaker had such a bad time with it. It's here to stay. Gen

Wow, Gen..... I am in awe that you've got such an incredible machine. I'm not really into embroidery, but when I saw that machine I just drooled.

I've got one and I'm very happy with it! Several things sold me on it, including the "free-arm" capability, the number of feet that come with it, the number of feet that are compatible with the "even-feed" function, and the knee-lift. Recently, I've seen ads for the Quest-Plus or Quest 2. When I emailed Babylock, this is the answer that I received as to the difference between the two machines.

The Quest 2 offers many small changes from the Quest. Some are not noticeable but there has been adjustments made on the inside.

  1. The one most asked about is the adjustment made at the end of stitching. It was slowed down and the extra stitches taken at the end were adjusted.

  1. You no longer will have to disconnect the foot control to use the START/STOP button.

  2. The stitch length manual settings for some stitches can be shortened to
  3. Straight stitches can be programmed into the machine' memory and will sew continuously with no auto-lock stitches. I hope this information helps

  4. The Quest Plus has 1 more foot than the Quest. . It is the free-motion Open Toe Quilting. This foot is available also for the Quest.

  1. The felling foot is an additional foot available for both machines.

Hope this information is helpful.

I really raised H*** about the stitch length not going to 0,(#3) especially for satin stitching. Sent numerous emails to the company. My dealer was able to get into the machine somehow and corrected that oversight, so my plain Quest has it. That was a huge issue for me. Gen
