Sofa quilts for pets - plus

After seeing this and the other advertised products for pets - love the idea of the 'folding pet bed', toy chest, buffet, dog house with porch, metal mesh pet bed, and the list goes on and the bill would be astronomical! A pet lover with a big wallet would also need an appropriately sized home to house all the required specialty items. jennellh

Funny you'd mention the sofa quilts for pets right now! Yesterday I made a quilted, insulated cover for The HairyButts' doggy door cuz it leaks cold air- it attaches with Velcro to the frame of the doggy door. I have also cut out two simple quilts for over the two upholstered chairs they prefer for daytime sleeping. I'm tired of vacuuming and shampooing the chairs. This way I can simply wash the quilt covers and put them right back on the chairs.

And I fell in love with my Janome 6600 all over again! The insulated doggy door cover is made of 2 layers of Warm & Natural sandwiched between two layers of insulated, black-out drapery lining and a piece of heavy upholstery fabric. My 6600 breezed thru sewing it. Then the Velcro had to be sewn right at the edge of the quilt- so I was stitching thru all those layers, plus the seam allowance thicknesses plus the Velcro! I used a size

18 universal needle but didn't do anything else other than sew slower than normal. I was soooo proud of my sm! Janomes rock!
