Spring Cleaning

I don't know whether we are going to have spring or not. It looks like some of us are going to go straight from bitter winter to hot summer. Some of us must get to cleaning, spring or no spring. Now is a very good time to go through your stash and weed out pieces that are never ever going to see a quilt at your house. Our Jill who makes quilts for the pet rescue shelters needs your dreary linens, stash rejects, jeans parts - whatever could be used for a quilt for a furry face who is longing for a home. Go to Jill's website snipped-for-privacy@webtv.net to see what the needs are and the hopeful darlings that need some comfort. Sorting, packing and shipping a box of 'what was I thinking?' and 'why am I keeping this?' is a barely tolerable chore - until you see those sweet faces. I can't make cleaning the oven fun but this bit of spring cleaning will make you feel really good. Polly

What a great reminder, Polly! Thank you. I'll start another scrap basket and will hunt for those fabrics I've "outgrown". The more I make quilts, the more my taste changes..... the critters deserve my mistakes for their snuggling comfort. Isn't Jill just the bestest?

Good idea! And once you've got that oven respectable again, why not start using a covered roaster so it won't get dirty so fast? (Mine holds a large goose. Before the roaster, I'd just plan to clean the oven on Christmas Day, as a present to myself, and not do goose but once a year. Now I am fearless! Bring it on, I'll roast anything edible!) Thanks Ladies for thinking of the animals.

In the spring and summer, Critter Comforts "blankies" are in high demand with all the new kittens and puppies as well as the Greyhounds coming off the race tracks, along with all the other adult fluffy butts. In fact, in the last month Critter Comforts surpassed the 5000 "blankies" made point and still going strong. So, I am always happy to give your unwanted or ugly fabrics a new home. They will be put to good use and be loved by many homeless cats and dogs. As always, I can use any washable fabric, as well as those all important Hobbs UPCs. If you have any questions, please contact me at snipped-for-privacy@webtv.net

Thanks!!!! Jill
