Spring Cleaning: The animals would love to have your unwanted fabric

It's that time again when we clean out out closets and sometimes even our sewing rooms. So, if you find yourself with a stack of fabric, blocks, ufos, thread or batting that you'd like to go somewhere that it will get put to good use, I have just the place. As most of you know, I sew "blankies" for dogs and cats awaiting adoption at more than a dozen rescues in the Metro Detroit area. We have been hit extra hard with layoffs and plant closing as well as lots of people moving out of state and many people are leaving their pets behind. The rescues are swollen with surrendered cats and dogs just as puppy and kitten season is about to begin. I'd like to thank all of you that have helped Critter Comforts over the years. I couldn't do it without you!! Please contact me if you have any questions!

Hey Jill!! DOn't freak out when you get a HUGE box from JoAnns....it's really from me! I clean out periodically during the year and when I finish projects and have leftovers that aren't enough for any other project (or were bought JUST for that project), they get added to the box. There is *always* one sitting in the sewing room to be filled for you! I think there might even be batting bits in this one, leftover from the sleeping bags I've been making!

Larisa, box should be go> It's that time again when we clean out out closets and sometimes even

Jill--

I sent you a small box of fabric on Friday, and I still have two more boxes each about twice as big as that one. They have been sitting around since November, mainly because I'm thinking about how much the postage will be. I get paid every two weeks, so I might just send one box per pay period for the next month or so. I'm also going to see if there is a cheaper alternative than the post office.

I've been working on perfecting a pants pattern for myself, and made a lot of test shorts with cheap or ugly stash fabrics. None are wearable, since I still don't have the pattern right. Can you use fabric that has been sewn into shorts? It would probably be more trouble than working with flat, regularly-shaped pieces, but if you can use it, I might box that up for you, too. Otherwise, I'll just throw it out.

I haven't forgotten you and the critters, Jill. I, like Larisa, keep an open box in my SR, just for putting things into for you. The current one is almost full, but I don't get paid til next week, so it's at least 2 weeks out from you.
