Squaring a Quilt

Hello All,

Can anyone help me with instructs on squaring a quilt. I've looked on the net and in all the books I have and can't find any decent guide lines.

Thank you. Karen

Give us some more information, and I bet we can help you.

Is your quilt rows and rows of blocks sewn together but just not a square with perfect right angles?

Is it a fairly square setting of blocks with borders that are a bit wobbly?

Is it quilted yet or still unquilted?

let us know and I'm sure we can come up with some suggestions for you.

Karen, did anyone answer your question? I do several things. One, I measure the top diagonally i.e. left top corner to right bottom corner, then right top corner to left bottom corner. If these numbers match the top is square. If not, tug gently on the short measurement line and re-measure. This doesn't mean some of my blocks are not wonky or that the sides are in perfectly straight lines. I then use a 12 1/2" square-up ruler to square up the corners on a quilt, then I mark the sides w/the long ruler. After checking to make sure I'm not cutting off points, etc. I trim all four sides.
