Thar she blows

That rascal Hurricane Ida looks like she's taking dead aim at The Swamp. Silly thing; everybody knows we don't have hurricanes in November. We've washed and dried everything we can get out hands on - and I've baked LOTS. Can't use the oven or clothes dryer on a little generator if we lose electricity. We have Seattle's Patti and Edna P over to our east and Kate T on the west. Hope all of you are battening down your hatches. Sometimes our hurricanes plunder on north as far as New York - so even Doc and Amy need to be paying attention. And for Heaven's Sake, don't go get under a tree. I remember one fairly low key hurricane where 7 people were killed from falling trees. Polly

All the best, Polly; and God be with you while the danger lasts. Also, everybody else in its path. Must be so terrifying. Please check in when you can, when it has passed. You know the drill >gThat rascal Hurricane Ida looks like she's taking dead aim at The

Hatches are batten down, Polly, and I'm in WA State. Talking about The Swamp, have you seen or heard about the SwampMa? My brother use to tell stories about her and said she lived in the swamps where we all lived. Scary stuff so please do be careful!

The last time I checked the buoys, the readings were 21 foot seas and winds of over 100 m.p.h. with rains up to 10 inches.

It is predicted to come in around Mobile sometime early tomorrow morning like 1 a.m.

With the other low to the west in the Gulf, those of us along the coast line of Louisiana and Mississippi will get soaked with heavy rains.

There go the gargage cans, lawn chairs and table umbrellas.

Mama cat ( Miss Lucy) know somethings up with the weather. She was at the back door with her little one early this a.m. As soon as I opened the door she grabbed the kitten and into the hallway she went.

Yeah, what is this anyway? A hurricane in November? Ida needs to look at the calendar!

We're keeping everyone in the hurricane's path in our thoughts and hope the rain and damage are minimal. Be safe!

Take care, Polly, and do let us know how you are. I'm glad you're ready for the "blow" and I hope it's over quickly.

I have visions of a large white whale landing on you, thinking 'Oh, no - not again' as a bowl of petunials lands on it's head!

My literary references are somewhat mixed this after noon...

Good luck! May you weather the storms lightly.

Patti's okay. I just checked on her. And yes, I'm baking. If we lose electricity, I won't be able to use the oven and there's something about nasty weather that makes people crazy/hungry. Polly

The last report I saw about an hour ago, said it had been downgraded to a tropical storm, and was aiming at the Florida panhandle. Polly, I know it can still get you, but it doesn't have the punch it did before. The winds were in the 60-70 mph range. Stay safe.

Smart move, Polly, with your baking! Have your BBQ handy to use after it's gone by? And plenty of candles, batteries, gallon jugs of fresh water, charged cell phone, games/puzzles/books so you don't get bored, and all the other survival stuff at the ready? After a couple of years of living in the Typhoon-belt (i.e. southern Japan) and the Hurricane belt (- i.e. Puerto Rico), we even got to the point where we'd fill the bathtub with water so we could use it to flush the toilets. Less than a week after DH & I were married, Okinawa, Japan was hit by a typhoon - we had "Roast Beef by candlelight" for many days after!

Take care all of you in the Ida-area. Let us know you're all ok. ME-Judy
