That Aussie Santa Quilt

As it is just one week until Christmas, I figure this is a good time to report on my Aussie Santa Quilt! I made this little 17" square WH back in

2001. The center is a square of fabric printed with an Australian Santa .... complete with a kangaroo to carry the toys, and a few koalas to help! This guy wears an orange coat, and there is some lime green in the design, all on a red ground. To call it cool is an understatement. It came to me from Linda, a former RCTQ poster in Oz. Loosely speaking, it is a log cabin style, using a strips of various widths, angles and colors. I included VERY bold shadings of colors: red, yellow, lime, white, orange. I added some goofy decorative stitches. I love this quilt! Unfortunately, I could never find "the right spot" to display it. I did hang it here or there, but it was never shown to its best advantage. Until this year! Last winter we painted the downstairs WC (powder room) a bold pea soup green. The accent is a star with yellow, orange, green, aqua and pink. The towels are in similar color, as is a small rug. Well, I've gotta tell you, this little quilt SHINES in that space!! Woo hoo! A bonus: I have a stamp basket WH of same size and similar color way, which will take that space when the holidays are over. I'm pretty sure Santa will want to stay up until at least the 12th day of Christmas: January 7th. So, if Linda happens to drop in to RCTQ, I hope she reads how much pleasure her squishy gave me. To all: find something unexpected to add to your holiday! PAT in VA/USA

Pat -- if you can e-mail a photo to me, I will be happy to put it up on my Webshots album for you -- with proper identification, of course :-). I would like to get a look at the quilt, too. CiaoMeow >^;;^<

I just got the camera recently and haven't gotten that far yet. In the past I sometimes used DH's camera and he put my pictures onto a disc or a chip and I'd go to the store and have the photos made up. I am incredibly lazy when it comes to learning new technology. PAT

if you can find the cord that came with the camera all ya gotta do is plug it into both the camera and the computer. i'm guessing there is probably a plug hole it will fit somewhere on the front of the computer. then you should see something show up on the screen that doesnt look familiar but is new to you. click on that. see where it takes you. no doubt you've already got the right software on the computer to do the job of taking the pix from the camera onto the computer, just follow the instructions. there may also be a disc that came with the camera that is the specific software for this job.

what make/model of camera is it? if i can find the info online (which often it is there somewhere) i can be much more specific. i'm sure between me and others here we can guide you thru the process without too much pain. keep chocolate at the ready tho, just in case tis needed. :)) if we can get you thru this just once, mystery solved, and you'll be away laughing. j.

Oh Pat -- get in line behind me -- LOL! For ages I wouldn't learn how to get the digital photos from the camera to the computer! I would actually make DH print up the photos and then I would scan them and save them to the computer. I thought that, if you didn't have a digital camera but had a regular film camera and had a hard copy of a photo, you might be able to scan it and then send me the scan in an e-mail. AHHH

-- technology -- can't lie with it and can't live without it -- LOLOL! CiaoMeow >^;;^<

This is where I turn into a technophobe -- LOLOL! Not once have I ever "followed directions" and been able to get anything to work as described in the directions! There is ALWAYS some wee, little bit of info that has been left out -- something that is basic, common knowledge to the person who wrote the directions but is not "intuitive" to me. VBS -- DH and I have terrible arguments whenever I have to learn something new on the computer because *HE* has the little bit of intuitive knowledge so he doesn't understand why I don't - LOLOL! You don't want to know what I think of this new *($(*&$*&^$ Vista system we have on our new computer! Talk about STUPID and counter-intuitive and TOTALLY out in left field when going from the old type Windows system to this new piece of "you know what" 8-P***** CiaoMeow >^;;^<
