The Insane Hexagon Project

I don't have any of the first one I did - the second one was for the European block swap and if I dig I *think* I still have a photo of that one: a fish I'll holler when I put it up :-)

I know it is :-D I prefer doing reverse to normal any day of the week LOL

it *is* easy! just layer the fabrics, draw your design on the top one, snip out what you don't need leaving a seam allowance and fold the seam allowance over covering any layers you have cut through

I bet that was as clear as mud LOL

sorry still no hexagon in the other peoples quilts folder - just a couple of wedding rings, the Dresden plate one and 3 other ones (the donation, Christies and robin's) I have given up on sewing straight lines by hand.. it was always a disaster!

Thanks! I'll holler when I run out :-) or if I need a specific colour to fill it out

I'm still not sure if it's there. But I do LOVE that "colors" quilt!

No, that was fine Jessamy! Do you not have to 'attach' the underneath to the top one in some way? before snipping and sewing I mean? . In message , Jessamy writes

I watched a Cuna woman while she was working on one. She had basted the layers together in really big stitches. I'm not sure if she drew the design and then did the basting to hold it in place until and reverse applique was finished. I did buy one and it's mounted in a frame now.

That's beautymous! Thanks for posting it again. I'm glad I got to see it.

Thanks for putting them up Sandy! The quilt is stunning but it must have been a bear to make - let along to finish for someone else, even if it *was* our dear Butterfly!

I use safety pins to do that about twice as many as you would for a quilt and as with quilting you remove as necessary :-)

no worries :-) it will arrive *right* on time

I trim away the top layer to the seam allowance and then fold it back, then I trim any other layers I need to remover to the sewing line so it doesn't get bulky then I use the seam allowance to cover up the raw edges of the other layers by folding it over the lower layers that I trimmed and then appliqué it down onto the layer I want to see.

I'm about to go digging.... only about 5000 photo's to look through

That is gorgeous! I don't think I will ever have the temerity to tackle GFG or Cathedral Windows, but it's nice to know that someone else can do such a lovely job.

Ah, thanks - I thought there would have to be something to hold the layers together. . In message , Jessamy writes
