The Insane Hexagon Project

you don't have to, you can do one of these:

  1. add a round of hexagons face down to the ones on the edge (can be any colour you won't see them) remembering to join them to each other as you go. Then remove the papers from all the hexagons and fold the back to front ones to the back - it helps if you have added the batting and backing and cut them to shape before folding them back and then all you have to do is appliqué that added round to the backing - you will have a perfect edge and no real border.

  1. appliqué the edge hexagons to a border making sure you do either the sides first or the top and bottom first, trim the border to the edge of the end hexagons and then do the sides you haven't done next

but if you are going for high speed finishing then yes you will loose half the hexagons as you will need to trim the bit sticking out so you can machine sew the borders on to the edges *or* baste and quilt the quilt and bind the edges.

Howdy!

Thank you!

The quilt top was about 2/3 finished when Butterfly sent it to me; she got me to try something new and it worked out fine. I'm not afraid to tackle a GFG again, but... not any time soon. I did trim the sides for a straight edge; works for me.

It looks even more lovely in *her* house. ;-)

The quilt top was a gift to me. I asked Sandy to finish up the parts that were in need of repair and to hand quilt it. It was a hand quilted quilt and since I can't do that any more she helped me out. It is my 'for show' quilt :) It was kinda neat seeing her 'eyes flicker with recognition' :) We did have quite a nice lunch even tho I *FORGOT* to serve the cucumber that we made a special trip to the store for the day before didn't think of it until we started dinner that evening :( It sure was neat having time just to talk and have flip and flap of the bed coverings :) Didn't dare leave Mr. Joe to go LQS'ing with her and he wasn't up to a houseful of company. He is better but tires very quickly.

Butterfly (looking forward to next time--and there better be a next time)

It's a really great quilt! It must have been fun to see the look on her face! It's funny how one can forget something like that in the excitement of meeting up LOL. In a week and a half I'll have a meet up of my own :-) I get to meet Tia Mary and I can't *wait*!!

I hope your Mr/ Joe gets better soon! operations can have such a toll on a body!

(((HUGS))) for all of you

Now you'all know why it is a 'show piece'. Even DH was pleased to meet you and remembered some of it--he was still kinda out of it.......
