There's no place like home

Hi All Trying to catch up on all the posts while I've been away for the past ten days. Congrats to all and many happy dances to those finished, or almost finished projects. Will give a more detailed account later, but decided to drive down the I-5 highway in Western US as there are so many forest fires burning in B.C. Made it as far south as Sacramento. Just missed Arnie at the state fair, darn, not only a screen actor but maybe the next govenor of California. Actually, we didn't even go, but stayed close to the site by accident. Spent two nights there, drove east to Auburn as a day trip and then headed through Napa and out to the California/Oregon coast. Such a pretty drive, and so much cooler on the coast. Hit triple digits and high 90's along the I-5 corridor. Home again last night with a bunch of goodies and many new quilt shops to share with you all. Need to do some clean and tidy of travel wardrobe and organize the purchases. It's still hot here got up to 27C yesterday. Haven't had any significant rain in some time. Heard on the late news last night that several heritage train tressels along the Kettle Valley were burn or damaged over the past few days. Really sad. One is a rare S-curve tressel, had become a great mountain biking trail and hiking trail. Hope everyone is well and happy, Cheers.

Glad to say the last load is in the dryer. No QI to do any damage. Now to put it all away. But first a few words on the trip to come.

Kathy, If I'd known you had quilts in the fair I'd have gone and looked. Just found the 100F heat too much to take. Congrats on the ribbons! Went out to Auburn to check out Machado Orchard...hm...warm peach pie for breakfast. More on that shortly.

That sounds like some rail mileage that DH and I have promised ourselves to ride when we have the time and the money.

Actually Nell that is not longer a railway. The tracks have all been covered over so folks can hike/walk/bike over them. So far 8 have been burned or damaged. Good news is that there is some rain falling in the Vancouver area right now and hopefully heading over and up to the forest fires. Only problem is with the cooler weather the winds pick up and cause more problems. Hope you find the time and the money soon to come and visit this part of the continent.
