Too beautiful to cut

That was a surprise to me too, Patti, but it did happen. There's enough left here to fussy cut another quilt. I can do that. Maybe. Polly

Now you know why I echo quilted the fish in my tropical fish wall hanging. I just couldn't do anything else. That quilting makes those turtles and fish really pop, doesn't it? Debra in VA See my quilts at

Aha! It was you, Debra, that got me into this. I just loved your quilt with the sailboat, the sea and what was going on beneath. That's how the turtles and fish jumped in my shopping cart. ( It was much easier for the fish than the turtles.) My plan, such as it was, was to do a few sailboat blocks and put the turtle/fish print under them. I'll just have to do the sailboats another day. Ooooh, Tia Mary, is he for rent? Or can he be pursuaded to subtly influence many of the people in our lives who "just don't get it" regarding our creative muses and our need to feed said muse???

LOL Glad to give you an idea, even if'n it didn't quite work out the same. You give me ideas all the time. I know I wouldn't be making my friend a baby quilt if you never wrote about the ones you make. You nearly made me hafta make a duckie quilt a while back, and I didn't have anyone to make the quilt for at the time.

By the way, my baby quilt includes a turtle print too. Must be something in the air if we are making quilts with the same sort of critters. The print is far different though. Bright happy multi-colored polka-dotted turtles scattered on a pretty purple background. I paired it up with a multi colored dots on blue, and a sunshine yellow with white polka dots print. The yellow is the main top fabric, and it will be the backing too.

I've used spray starch for the first time ever. And I'm sewing on the bias for the first time. So far, so good. Debra in VA See my quilts at

My friends often ask if there is a way to "xerox" him -- LOL. You're welcome to borrow him for creative muse encouragement -- he's

*very* good at that. Just trust me that you would get *really* tired of the continued silence with, of course, the occasional exception for descriptive grunts to direct questions -- LOLOL! To make you even more jealous, he absolutely LOVES to go shopping and almost never tells me I am spending too much money!! Doesn't matter what we are shopping for, either. He even takes me to LNS & LQS AND helps look for interesting stuff. I guess that's why I have lived with the grunting & silence for the last 35 years and not done him any bodily harm -- yet -- LOLOL! I continually learn that my DH doesn't have any sense of color/style/decorating. I have made the mistake on more then one occassions to say "how do you like this" and he gives me some really awful comment like "can't you make this bigger, smaller, brighter, yada yada, and then expects me to do it! LOL

If I just do what I want to do he always likes it and his comments don't interfer with my image of how the project should look.

He is a sweetie though, so I'm keeping him. I don't rent him out as a QI because nobody would want him. HEHE

Polly, remember that one I bought for $30.00 per yard a few years back and just could NOT touch it? YOU got me to cut a piece along the edge and send it on to you. Do you need to do the same? Cut a piece along the edge and send it on to me to get you going?

Oh what we do to help....

We really need you to get a camera! I highly recommend getting a printer with a little slot for the camera's memory card. (My HP2210 has 4 different slot sizes.) No cables to mess with. Just stick the card in, open the printer's software, click on "download photos" and they all appear on screen as little thumbnails. then you can open whatever ones you really want, give them names you can remember, and send them to Webshots et al.for our viewing pleasure! Pleeeeeze! Roberta in D
