Too hot in the bedroom for yah Kate? (OT)

Well, I figured the subject line will either be immediately ignored or opened by everyone

It has been very warm here too. I would get home from work and it would be hotter inside than out and it wasn't cooling off at night. We weren't sleeping well at all even with the windows open and fans blowing directly on us. A customer suggested this to me and it works so well I thought I'd share it. Who knows, maybe everyone in the world already knew but me :-)

In the evening put a large box fan in a window so it blows outside. Close all the doors and windows in the house except your bedroom window. Make sure the room with the box fan and your bedroom doors are open.

Within 1 hour the bedroom was much cooler and by morning we were under the covers. The vacuum created draws the cool night air in through the bedroom.

Now, for everyone who's mind went down a different path, shame

Hehehehehe! I own a fan, but it's in the loft, and WAAAAAY to hot to go looking up there for it! But I will have to go and get the Dolly for my latest bridesmaid adventure. Where's the asbestos suit and refrigeration unit when I need them? In the loft, being stored...

We have a whole house fan in the attic that does this, but we run it before bed as it is a bit loud for the H. AND I don't want the cat walking on my head all night, so I have to close my bedroom door. It does work tho.

Sounds great, but

a) we only have tiny louvre windows in the bedroom at picture-rail height,

and

b) you obviously haven't tried to buy an electric fan within 20 miles of Southend over the last week or so - there are NONE to be had for love nor money.. I swear I'm gonna smuggle the one out of the office on Monday night when I leave...

(oh bugger I can't - I'm not in work on Monday - having Broadband connected...)

Suzie's going on to broadband, well done, it is about time missy!!

We've got fans, in each bedroom and a couple of "floating" ones for other rooms.......

Well, Blueyonder were offering free installation if you booked by the end of July, and if we chop in our 2nd phone line (£10 monthly) and the surf-unlimited package (£13 monthly) for the broadband monthly of £25, we're only paying an extra £2 but get much more benefit - the free installation and free cable modem did it for me...

...love that word...free...

Oh and the fan situation - a friend at work has lent us one - and tonite I am sitting here with the windows closed and a sweatshirt on - I kid you not I am *cold*...

Broadband is great! Yes, it is definetely worth the extra £2, just for the speed, and when you send pics down the line in seconds rather than hours....

Have fun

Moira (See you on Thursday!)
