TOTALLY OT - Wire Wrapped Jewelry

Anyone else in this group doing this type of craft? I just got intereseted in it...and like all my obsessions I just bought like every tool under the sun and some supplies so I can jump in with two feet and no abandon!

Since quilting and farbic arts are so "soft" I am looking forward to the "hard" aspect of jewelry making!!!

And maybe I can incorporate the two! Jewelry with bits of fabric, etc!

Just asking to see if anyone else has tried or is actively into wire wrapped jewelry!

Melissa in NJ P.S. To bring this around to quilting a little, I finished a quilt last night! WOOHOO! I like finished!

I have tried it but gave the pieces away before I took pictures of them. At the moment I am working on the coraling technique from Russia. Shirley

as i was reading your post...i dont do any beading like that... i pix'd in my head a vertical spiral of wire with beads and small bits of patchwork threaded on to the wire (thru the p/w seams perhaps). what it would be used for i've no idea. maybe xmas tree decos, window hangings, shrug, no idea, just what popped into my head. sounds like wire wrapped would be really pretty tho. i think i've seen it on the carol duvall show on hgtv. got pix of yours yet? jeanne

The woman who taught my crazy quilt workshop today also does this! She brought some of her jewelry. Amazing. One of the coolest things was a tiny porcelain doll plate that she wrapped with wire and hung on a chain. It was less than 2 inches across.

I really loved it.

Hey, you forget about me, friend...sheesh! Best book to get is All Wired Up by Marc Lareau.

I don't have time at the moment to go into details, but email is always a good option. craftigirl at earthlink dot net

I am a little bit. I have a metal "grape leaf" that I am adding as an embellishment to one of my Art Quilts. I definitely think that "hard" and "soft" elements in the same quilt create a good contrast.
