I hate webpages that disappear in the middle of the night. I know servers have to do maintenance sometime, LOL, but middle of the night is primetime for web surfers....

Obligatory Bead Reference: Stumped for a last minute holiday gift, but have a houseful of beads? (she writes, whistling innocently) An expensive looking gift can be made in a few minutes with freshwater pearls, crystals of any kind and whatever Bali leftovers you have kicking around. (I always seem to have onesies and twosies of Bali spacers). Just string the pearls, crystals and silver in a random pattern on a good sized length of your favorite beading wire.

If you have a lot of leftovers, voila - it's a lariat! If you have fewer things kicking around, make a necklace or even a nice bracelet. Best of all, watch heads for beading are now widely available for about $7 at craft stores. (assuming you're like me and didn't preplan and buy watch heads for cheap.) People think you went buck wild making them a "fancy" beaded watch, when you really put it together in five minutes from your stock of bead soup. Smile graciously and accept their compliments.

completely correct. i get nailed with that 3am thing quite a bit, too. my own site goes offline about then when the automated programs kick in to back everything up. on Books 'n' Bytes, the user logs are really consistent about the times, too.

Oooh thanks for the eye candy! I have an assignment for Xmas. Mike got my son, his grandkids and my nephews each beautiful knapped arrowheads in different stones. I'm supposed to wire-wrap each of them (simple styles) and have them strung on leather cording. It's quite a challenge. Still waiting for 2 to arrive in the mail. My son's arrived yesterday and it's soooo cool....it's yellow fiberoptic "cat's eye" glass with a beautiful knapping pattern and a great shape. I take pix of all of them when they're done. I think I'm finding another sideline!

For anyone interested in cool arrowheads, take a look at Ebay. They have lots of "paleo" (authentic early man-made) and even more modern-made points. One of our favorite knappers goes by flintknapper. Pretty rocks!
