Update on the "I Don't Like It Quilt" and some GOOD NEWS

Update first - for those who remember my post of a month or so ago - I've finished the top, pieced the backing and sandwiched it today. I started quilting this afternoon but didn't get too far. Still don't like it for my bed but I think it's found a home with my SIL who lost her husband and her MIL within the last 12 months. Thanks all for your suggestions. I will post pics when I'm done. Quilting this one will get me started on a couple of UFO's that need quilting too. In the meantime I want to start a quilt for DB. He's having his 2nd dose of chemo right now. He lives with me and I'm planning on taking some time off work at end of June when he starts his radiation therapy - 7 weeks of 5 days a week. So......... I plan to get a bit of sewing done. Which brings me to the ... GOOD NEWS - I also have a quilt to make for DD#2 who has just been accepted for the West Australian Police Force. Its something she has wanted to do since she left school. She's now 28 and this year decided it was the year to go for it. It took her 3 attempts to get through the physical (she's built like a whippet - slender and willowy) but she stuck with it and got her acceptance letter on Friday. Can you tell I'm REALLY REALLY proud of her?

Congratulations DD2, Heather. Stickability is *good*. I can hardly believe she's 28, though! You have a lot of sadness surrounding you at the moment. I wish you all the best for it all - when you are a step apart it is often more difficult. . In message , Heather in WestOz writes

Congratulations, Heather! That's for finding a home for your quilt *and* for your DD's wonderful accomplishment. :) I'll keep my fingers crossed for your DB, too.

Congratulations to DD2 on this achievement. You are right to be proud! I'll pray for your DB. We will have our local Relay for Life here in two weeks, so this topic is much on my mind. Take care.

Congratulations, Heather! You and your daughter have every right to be proud! Good for her for sticking with it.

My DD is also interested in becoming a police officer, too. She's just 22 and graduating from college, but she's been wanting to be a police officer since she was 3!!

Many, many congrats to your daughter, Heather! And I do remember your post about the quilt you didn't like. I'm glad it's got a home with you SIL.

Your brother is lucky to have such a good sister. Sorry he (and you) are having to go through such a rough time. I wish you both well.

Thanks everyone. DB is almost finished 2nd chemo of 4, so he's half way there. It hasn't hit him so hard this time. DD2 has her preliminary induction today, she actually begins her training on 23 June. She is SO excited! But a bit nervous too. This is going to be good for her I think.

Take care

Good to hear that the quilt has found a home Heather, especially one with family.

Congratulations to your DD. A number of police that I know of have had life experience before joining up.

Hugs to your brother.
