Using B-Nash Bonding Powder

I'm working on an art quilt and came across this stuff, B-Nash Bonding Powder. Has anyone used this to fuse snippets on an art quilt. I'm wanting to make little snippet leaves on a tree and I really don't think I would like putting netting over it. I also saw where someone took and cut up fusiblw with the fabric into wee little pieces and mixed it all together and fused but, I don't know if it would keep everthing in place. Any thoughts or suggewstion?

Are you going to sew over it afterwards?

In anycase, I've used the snippit technique of adding fusible to fabric, then cutting it into little pieces and fusing it to the background. I did stitch on top. I'm pretty sure though that if you use a decent fusible and don't plan on washing the quilt, you don't even have to sew over it.

I was just playing with a project - a shirt for a little girl who was probably going to wear it to hunt caterpillars anyway. I needed lots of tree leaves. I fused some green fabric to an interfacing, cut little leaves and that's when the fight started. It was pretty much impossible to see which side of the leaves were the 'sticky' side and pretty much impossible to get all the little rascals still long enough to iron in place. Not saying it is totally impossible but it is a challenge. Polly

Yes I'm planning to free motion over it. I might go try a sample little piece and see how it looks.

Isn't there a fusible that is "sticky" on the second side - enough that you can position (and reposition) before you fix by pressing?

I never had a problem seeing the correct side, but I think that depends a lot on how different the front and the back of the fabric is.

Certainly, for very small pieces, removing the paper after cutting can be a serious pain!

Just got some of this a few weeks ago - as yet unopened! I'll have to try (fabric glue is new to me!) . In message , Roberta writes

Ha-ha! My Bond-a-web is so old, there is no problem removing the paper at all >g< I can't use it on anything where 'hold' really matters - just as an 'until stitched' device! . In message , Hanne in DK writes

Depending on the effect that you want - you could apply the fusible to your background and then toss your snippets willy-nilly to those areas - press using a silicon pressing sheet - check for any blank spaces over the fusible and reapply more snippets as wanted. You can also add some thread snips or other bitty bits into the mix that you couldn't fuse otherwise. barnyowl
