Hi Martha. Yeah, another IN quilter. I get to Terre Haute often, usually stop some place in Terre Haute as we are usually traveling to Arthur, Tuscola and/or Arcola. I live in a very very small town called Owensburg, just on the north side of Crane (the ammunition depot) but my mailing address is Bloomfield if you know where that is. And the quilt show in Bloomington is absolutely wonderful -- I have been the past two years. Isn't there a gentleman from Terre Haute that enters the most beautiful quilts in the Bloomington show? We may just have to get together and met some time. :-)

Well, I guess I have been pretty chatty since I subscribed, lol. Actually I started quilting to have something in common with my oldest daughter (now that she is married and out of the house) and we have the mostly wonderful "craft" days -- she will come down on a Saturday or Sunday (or if it is during the summer we work in more -- she is a teacher) and we send the guys off to the golf course and we get our sewing machines out and just stitch away. It has been great fun and she is a great teacher and helper.

Thanks for the offer of blues, but I truly have enough. And I think the family is just a little over whelmed with all the blue fabrics I have been sewing, LOL. I'm sure another blue lover will pop in here soon.

Hi Coleen, Owensburg and Bloomfield are both familiar towns-the names, haven't been to the towns. Are you going to the quilts shops or to Rockome Gardens or???in Arthur and Arcola? Rockome Gardens has a Cross Stitch Show as well a quilt show annually don't they? Phil Beaver was from Terre Haute. He makes awesome quilts. Former art teacher here I believe. Last heard he had moved to Nashville, IN. Probably not enough artistic stimulation here in Terre Haute. Getting together sounds great. Martha

Oh yes, I remember that. In fact, I sent some stuff to the other person who was collecting things before you, and never heard a word about it, if she had received it or not. Then I guess she dropped out of sight. Oh well. I also got burned really bad by a stitcher from NZ. I sent her a whole lot of floss I got on sale, but never did get anything back from her that she promised. Now I just stick to quilters! I've never gotten burned here, and have even received wonderful surprise squishies! These people here are the best!

Now I only have two and neither one is completely finished (although now I have to finish the first one so I can take it to retreat to show Sue). I could send both of them to you on loan and you could put the binding on the first one and quilt and finish the second one and then you could send them back to me. Would that work for you????

Yes, I'm quite good at cracking the whip- for other people, that is! I have a bias tape stained glass wall hanging that I'm trying to finish to bring to retreat as well. After all, the "stitchers" in Hoosier stitchers can stand for quilt stitches, too!!!! Can't wait till the 26th! SueS

Well, that other person eventually contacted me -- seems I remember she is in the Midwest some where -- maybe Iowa or in that area. Funny thing, her parents (from the Bloomington area) had just been to visit her and she said she could have had them bring it to me. But, I still have quite a bit of stuff for cross stitch stash. There was a problem when I send a package to a poor lady who was trying to make it on her own and raise her children and actually did not have the money to buy their medicines, right alone cross stitch stash. So, a few people got their panties in a bunch because I sent her a package. The stash was to actually be for stitchers who had suffered a disaster -- flood, earthquake, fire, etc. But, I thought her situation constituted a disaster. And because a EGA chapter in Indiana had donated all the items they didn't sell in their annual rummage sale (this included at least a 1,000 charts), I felt that I should be able to send out the package. Someone even suggested that we appoint a "board" to decide who should get packages. I told them that I felt that I could be a good enough judge of character to send out the packages and since I was paying all postage expenses and getting all packaging materials myself, that I would either continue to do it my way or hand it all over to someone else. Needless to say, I still have the stash, still send out packages if the need arises and still have the stash sitting all over my enclosed porch. And I no longer participate much in RCTN. Oh well.... you can't please every one all the time.

Well, the next time Mom (she is my chauffeur) and I head over that way, I will give you a holler. I always manage to get lost in the area. I can't get used to all that flat land and road that have square corners every mile. I am used to the rolling hill and curvy roads here, lol.

Yes, I am really getting excited too. Ladies, we are going to this retreat at the end of September, and one of our ladies already has her bags packed for the weekend. Can you tell that we all need a get away and that we have a wonderful time together?? First I have a two day trip to Lexington (KY) for the ANG seminar with another lady from Kentucky who used to post on RCTN to get through. But the minute I get home I will start packing for the retreat too. LOL.
