What happens when a Sit'n'Sew group get together on Melbourne Cup Day

So I suppose no giant pin cushion on your head either. Ah well, I guess I will have to wait until you attend some other stitch and sip. LOL Debra in VA See my quilts at

Looks like great fun ... I would fit right in with that bunch of Mad Hatters! In fact I will be wearing my new hat today. Black Urban Cowgirl Hat With "Diamonds!"

So, what is Melbourne Cup Day? Yacht> Not much sewing getting done rofl!

horseracing - the posh day at the race course where ladies wear hats & and dresses and the gents wear a 3 piece suit (and a top hat?) and "society" sees and is seen

Yes there were sewing machines, and they even did some sewing. V sewed only in reverse (made a mistake in a very large very intricate block that she didn't notice till she got here, so spent all day "reverse sewing" :-( ), but R, E and K all had their machines out and purring, J helped with reverse sewing and pressing, P helped with cutting and L "supervised". The rest of the "guests" just sort of came and went in relays - pretty typical Tuesday at my place.

I did not have a chance to check out their work. Not sure if it will survive inspection at a later date lol
