When quilting is magical

I've been working on a simple flannel quilt, blue/yellow HST's. Because the pressing direction was confusing me and there are seams with lots of points coming together, I started working with the quilt blocks face down so I could track my pressing directions. It was a great technique BTW.

Today I finally finished the top and flipped it face up to see the front for the first time. I love it! It really sparkles. I guess I forgot how vibrant those colors were since I was working from the back of the blocks.

I love blue and yellow combination. I did a four patch with a couple of bow tie blocks thrown in for interest a few years ago. It's a top, not quilted yet. Led to me making my brother's family their four patch two colour quilts for Christmas presents. Made 6 different colour combinations in the end. Mine were scrappy, how about yours? Should be warm and bright on our west coast fall and winter days.

Sometimes, just the fabric does the magic. Last night I forced me to fussy cut quilt squares from Kitten in the Flower Garden by Springs. This print is nearly too sweet to approach with scissors. When I arranged those precious kitty face squares, I realized that just any layout would be wonderful. Next, I wondered what to use for sashings and filler blocks and realized it didn't matter. The print will do the magic by itself. Especially for those who have been loved by a kitty. Polly
