Where is everybody?

Been dealing with some health issues the last few weeks so have slowed down considerably! But I did finish up the baby quilt so it's ready to send this week, and cut out fabric yesterday to make my friend another chemo cap...oh, and darned DH's jeans :)

We're taking a long weekend next Friday and going down to Lancaster, PA, then to Chantilly, VA. and plan to hit some fabric stores.

So sorry about dear Tasha - my darling Clancy is 14 1/2 now - a wonderful SPCA special baby - and we're thinking it's almost time for her to cross over. My heart will go with her for sure - she's been an angel every day of her life and we love her to pieces. It's tough - feeling for you over here on the East Coast of Canada.

I went to a quilt show in Clearwater Florida on Friday. They had many workshop quilts, all the same pattern and size, but different fabrics. The DH took me to Rainbow's End in Dunedin. I didn't have any new projects in mind, and this shop has over 18,000 bolts. Picked up some fabric from their sale/clearance section, my favourite. On the way home we stopped at a Wal-Mart that was clearing out their fabrics

25% off. Picked up some flannel for the backing on some baby quilts for donation, and a couple of cute prints as well. I'm piecing a quilt from the Quiltville site, called Double Delight. Lots of small block parts to make. I'm stitching together the first block design (30 of them), but still have to finish the 120 or so 9 patch blocks for block 2. We have been suffering from a terrible drought in our area, and the morning showers that were promised didn't leave too much rain behind. The oak trees have been shedding their leaves by the ton, and the tree at the back of our house, that should be shedding pollen and getting new leaves, still looks the same as it did in January. Most of the rain has slipped north of us and missed the Tampa Bay area, and the area east of there (where I live). Back to sewing!

Well, I've been working in the day (Thur and Fri) and dashing to the quilt show afterwards! That way I got at least 2.5 hours in each time, and still collected my pay check at work! Yesterday, I just stayed home and did light chores, and read. Today I'm heading back to the show. See

Oh, Lenore -- I'm so sorry. It's so hard to do this last kind act for our furbabies. {{{Hugs}}}

I'm here for about another hour. I've been working on quilting my daffodil quilt -- the one I started last summer and which was my "lesson" on learning how to machine appliqué so that I could make that dragon. I won't be able to do much on it today, though, since I'll be at a friend's house with two other quilters all day. We'll all have dinner (with the DHs) later on. I just can't see trying to continue the machine quilting on a table, though, since I'm now used to doing it at a lower, more comfortable height, so I'll take along my hand piecing. :)

Sending you gentle hugs, Lenore and DH. It's a difficult decision to make, made a little easier knowing you don't want to see your furred family suffer needlessly.

I have had some health issues these past few weeks, am still working on handquilting the baby quilt for an interpreter at work. With the budget shortfall, we are watching carefully about furloughs at work; we are budgeted through 6/30/09 for us right now, but don't know what may happen after that. Our workload in the Courts has increased with the downturn of the economy, with no extras $$ for overtime so they want us to accomplish 150% in that 8 hours [pretty impossible]. Plus I am training a person to back me in my courtroom, who really doesn't want to be there - talk about an uphill battle!

G> Is it just me? =A0there seem to be very few posts in the past 24-48 hours= ....

Tasha will be happily waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge.... It's soooo hard to let a beloved pet go, but it's the kindest thing we can do for them. My Samantha & Hudson, & Ralphie will be there to greet your Tasha. ME-Judy

I'm awaiting the next round of snow -- we're expecting around a foot by tomorrow afternoon. Already have had over 70" so far this winter (plus layers of sleet/freezing rain in between storms!) DH just said he's seeing the first few flakes. And I've been helping DH recover from foot surgery - and shovelling!!! My last project was a "Dammit Doll" for a friend of my daughter.... I just may keep it a few days and put it to good use! ME-Judy

Lenore - soooo sorry to hear about your Tasha. Unfortunately way too many of us know the pain you are dealing with.

Alice - you're not that far away from me (30-40 min southeast). Can't believe they are calling for 14 in. of snow for you! And 2 in. last night! We only go what you can't even call a dusting here last night. Supposed to be 5-8 tonight with another 2-4 tomorrow I think. I'll actually enjoy the snow - we haven't really had much in the last few years.

Been handquilting a king size quilt. On borders 3 and 4 out of 5 currently. It's a long go of it but it doesn't need to be done any time soon. Have another queen sized sandwiched and basically ready to quilt. I need to look again at my pieced batting to see if it's really smooth enough. Don't know why I had so much stretching this time. That one doesn't need to be done for another 13 months so we're okay there. Also trying to teach myself paper-piecing but not having much luck. I think I'm just being too impatient and not reading thoroughly enough. Didn't know there was a class a couple of weeks ago at my LQS - oh well, we'll just keep plugging away.

Impatiently awaiting spring myself. I'll be heading to the Phila. Flower Show one day this week. Haven't been in a few years and it's great to see all the spring flowers and the great design ideas.

Who is heading to Lancaster PA soon? If your travel dates aren't etched in stone, there is a show there the weekend before Easter. I've never been but heard it's a great show. I think I'll try to make it there one day this year. I believe it's Thrs. thru Sun. that weekend. Don't have the link handy but the info is online. Just type in Lancaster PA quilt show in google and you'll get there.

Yepper, I am doing just that. I have been stitching and pinning and basting until I am ready to drop. I have 2 quilts ready for stitching and am taking a much needed break. I am the first to admit that I have been obsessing about my quilting lately. I have another 3 quilts that only need bindings. I also have one in the last blocks of hand quilting and will soon be ready for a binding. I also have one other top that I am debating on whether to make it bigger or not??? I have time to figure that one out. I don't think anyone would have really wanted to be around me yesterday. I couldn't find my quilting safety pins. I moved the box I keep them in when I had to make space for all the new fabrics in my stash last fall. I forgot where I put them. I pinned one quilt with my 'back up' pins. Many of them have small burrs and that slows me down when I am pinning. That added to my frustration. So I was up at

6:30a looking for them again. I found them behind some fat quaters in one of my fabric cupboards. I must have put them there, not thinking. . Oh yeah, did I mentioned I haven't even looked at my UFO's or WIP's yet. julia

Howdy!

It's just you, Gen. Just you. ;-D

And in MI, it's just Kate. ;-D

R/Sandy - mornings working in the yard, mowing, mulching, scalping, then inside for an afternoon of quilting by the open windows as a cool breeze wafts thru', enjoying an audio book & a tall glass of iced tea & a few M&Ms (melts in the mouth, not the hand quilting)

Ohhh, so sorry to hear of Tasha.....RIP...Crikit will meet her at the RB.

I haven't checked in for a few days either. Saturday DD and I had a defensive driving course all day and last nite we went shopping/dinner after. Today, i have been painting my DD ceiling in her room so she can finish sponge painting the walls. (all the base color is on now). Did some laundry, ran a few errands this AM and now am going to go fix dinner for me and DD when she gets off work.

Tomorrow is back to work...yuk...

Congratulations, Melinda. I find it so 'cool' that, in this newsgroup, based on a 'quiet' passion, we have someone who is a pistol-shooting champion. Just shows breadth and depth >g< Marvellous!.

Hello Sandy!! Yea!! I am so pleased to read your post directly. For a few months now, I have not received your posts, but have read them if they were included in someone's reply. I have NOT been ignoring you! So, this weekend, I searched through my blocked sender list and found your 'invalid' address on the list. I took it off the blocked list and now your posts come through again, much to my delight. I mention all this in the group in case anyone else is having trouble receiving direst posts from you or any other quilting friend. I also just checked out your appliqué quilts. I love every one of them. If your Doctor doesn't have space for that BEAUTIFUL dragon, my DS#2 would give it a very good home. :) Pat in Snowy (!!) Virginia
