It will probably be an Iowa piper.....so there could be a blend of several styles.....maybe even with a black and gold tartan....(the university school colors). It could be interesting. And perhaps even an insult to every tradition! heheheheh

Thanks Irene! I'm just glad the scarves are done.....but I'm taking my serger with me this weekend when I deliver them. I can alter the length immediately if necessary. I do not want to bring them home again. (We will see the bride in Chicago when we visit this weekend. She is there on a visit also.)

A truffle from Bochner Chocolates here in Coralville. I have a book that has a bunch of quotes about marriage, weddings, love and relationships. Some are funny, some are a bit sarcastic and some are very sweet and thoughtful. I thought it might be fun to include a quote in each little box....like a fortune cookie. It might give the guests at the tables something to talk about.

Howdy!

At our recent before-the-wedding party I put note cards & ink pens on the table and asked the group of family & friends to write something to the bride&groom. From this bunch of mostly 20s & 30s-somethings there were some beautiful thoughts and wishes and blessings. Big hit of the evening: glow sticks

ones would fit in your boxes) After the first wave ofeating fajitas & chips & salsa & guacamole & cupcakes, we passed out theglow sticks (long, skinny ones), turned out most of the lights & everyoneplayed. We got some great pics of glow-in-the-dark swirls & spins & fans,it was really cool. (A container of 100 sticks was $9 at a party store.)The kids from the party next door saw the glow sticks and asked to join us. Of course we shared. A couple of days later the couple (our son Eli and his Erica)

to Las Vegas and were married, while a couple of their friends lookedon; we stayed here in Tx. and watched the ceremony, live, on-line: LOVE IT!We "witnessed" their wedding and didn't even have to put on shoes. ;-PThe dvd is on its way to us. Beautiful ceremony, casual enough tomake them comfortable, fancy enough to make it significant to them. Good luck!

R/Sandy- "fixin' to" put the LogCabin blocks together, after I Swiffer the living room floor (design space); the wedding is done, the quilt will be Finished before the honeymoon is p.s. Now I have a daughter ;-)

We loved the glow sticks during and after Katrina. Not much in the way of lighting but they distracted the little ones and were Much safer than candles. Thank you just so very much for the reminder; I need to get a supply for 'what if'. Polly

Great idea! The first few minutes of 'polite' conversation are always a bit dicey. Mind you, in England, we could talk about the weather for the whole reception >gg< . In message , KJ writes

LOL. Some days it feels like that. But I do have a television in my sewing room and I can watch the Olympics or "Deadliest Catch" or "Law and Order(s)" or Cubs basesball games to make the time go faster. I have a fairly fast sewing order now, so they don't seem as tedious. The first ones were fun for a while, then they seemd almost painful. Now I can see the end and they go much quicker. Would I volunteer again? Probably not?

Kathyl, the scarves and boxes look wonderful! I think your "fillings" for the boxes sound just right -- something sweet and something to think/talk about. :)
