Wonderful surprise today

This is not OT. A friend and I went to lunch today with another lady whom I haven't seen for about 3 years. We all used to work together. We had a great lunch and as we were leaving she said to me - Oh, I have something for you in my car, could you please walk out with me? Of course I did. She pulled out a bag with 5 different star fabrics - 6 yards each! 30 yards of brand new fabric. I have seen some of it in my LQS. Very small stars....nothing gaudy. Now to start thinking of how I'm going to use it!

Anyway, this lovely lady got lupus and can't quilt any more but knows that I quilt. Isn't she a dear?

Definitely need to make that kind person something quilty! Roberta in D

We had a friend with lupus who was also a band parent and traveled with us often. She was just violently sensitive to sun. You might want to thank your friend with a box of limousine film. It's found in the automotive section of WalMart (and other places). The stuff is similar to the plastic wrap you use to cover leftovers to age in the refrigerator. It goes on and off quite easily and will block out those harsh sunrays. I keep a well-used hunk of it in our car and it makes trips just lots more comfortable. You can't block out the whole vehicle with it - that makes the highway patrol suspect that you're the 'get-away' car. Just a thought. Polly

It's actually illegal to use that stuff in some states unless you have a written authorization from the state based on medical information provided by a physician.

Thanks, I'll look for it. I did think I'd make her a lap quilt with some of the fabnc or a bag of some sort.

I understand that and I even understand why. All we ever need to put up is a strip about 4" wide where the car's sun visors gap or on the side windows. We're not hiding from the paparazzi or a Swat team - just trying to make life a little nicer. Polly "Mary" It's actually illegal to use that stuff in some states unless you have

What a great surprise. You'll make her at least a lap quilt from the fabric, won't you? Gen

Wow! That's a wonderful surprise, alright! :D Congratulations!

Sure, sure, Polly. That's what they ALL say. :)
