YBR question

May 21, 2012 5 Replies

I haven't quilted in over a year and am trying to make a quick YBR quilt for a granddaughter who is getting married in just a few months. I have used this pattern before but years ago now. I got the revised edition this time since I remembered having some sort of problem with the older version but I don't remember any details.

I'm at the very beginning, have just completed the first units and cutting them to 6 1/2 and 3 1/2 inch widths, 2 of each. That comes to 20 inches by my calculations so why did the directions say I need to have a

21 inch width????

Please help me before I get even more frustrated. I'm working on some nursing pads for a nephew's wife in the mean time and that is tedious cutting but really quick and easy sewing.

Judie,

I also make that 20 inches - I might guess that they want 21 inches, either because the edge is cut off, or to allow people to cut a little bad and have to straighten up as they go along?

Thanks, Hanne. I'm just going to go ahead and try not to even think about this too much, I already have a headache and way too much stress.

Irene,

It's a Yellow Brick Road pattern, fairly quick and easy and popular a few (or ten) years back.
