You might want to try topstitching needles sometime, Leslie. Bob (owner of Superior Threads) recommends topstitching needles for most everything. The eye is bigger and the front groove in the needle is a bit deeper to protect the heavier threads. And they are sharp needles as opposed to "universal".

Pati, > I tend to use size 12 or 14 embroidery or metallic needles for quilting

Winston is hopping up and down in anticipation of your arrival - his latest trick that he is practising - he is trying to figure out how to open up the fridge door, I'm sure. I have caught him several times jumping up to where the door separation is from the freezer - he has seen me pull there to open the door - he probably wants to make sure that he can keep you fed when you get here.

My money's on Winston; I'm betting he figures it out. What a precious smart kitty. And yes. It's probably going to take more than twelve. Polly

The only thing about a Quilter's Twelve Step Program is that we first have to admit we have a problem. I don't know about you, but it ain't gonna happen here, even if my friends arrange an intervention. ;-)

Wonder what a Quilters' Twelve Step Program might entail?

*rapping gavel* Good evening quilters and welcome to our 12 Step Program......do we have any new members?

Lovely, rosy cheeked person with thread tails clinging to clothing stands......My name is Eunice and I, umm, well, I can't seem to get enough purple *chair scraping in the back of the room*

Oh I LOVE purple too, This package of purple jelly rolls just came yesterday.

OMG, I've been looking for that shade of purple in batik!

Is that a polka dot in that jelly roll?

POLKA DOTS??

*rapping gavel* Order, order!

Where did you get the jelly roll? All I could find were fat quarters from Hoffman's.

Hoffman's is on sale?

Hey, did you see the free shipping at Paducah?

*rapping louder* Can we have ORDER please!

~much milling and babbling as knots of quilters convene pulling show and tell from bags and pockets~

OHHHHHHH, look at the cute kitties on the pink.

Who has pink? Did somebody say pink, I'll trade you pink anything for a ruler.

What kind of ruler, did you see the new ruler rack on Nancy's site?

I love organizing things, not that I actually organize but I love it......Gladys, did you see the pics of my DGD with her crib quilt?

OMG, how cute, how did you do those points?

~sobbing~ My points never match.

Let me show you a great way to match points, just do this and.....

OMG, where did you get that beige-y frost?

I need some neutral beige.......is that a darling little ant embroidered on the binding?

~RAP,RAP,RAP,RAP,RAP~ Will you all PLEASE take your seats!!

Josephine! Is that chocolate in your tote?

CHOCOLATE?!?!? Where's the chocolate? I have some red that would just make that square POP! Who has red, I've been looking for red. Does anyone need....Where'd you get.....How'd you do....Ahhh, isn't that sweet.....You adopted a new QI.....Do really need a walking foot....I just played with a longarm.....so can you FM that....Pass the chocolate......

Chaos and hubbub ensues, meeting adjourned.

.......and this is why a 12 Step (or more) program will never work *sigh*

Oh, this is classic! My eyes are watering from laughing...

Glad I don't have to go. I have to stop at a quilt shop on the way home.

Somehow, I suspect that Val has conducted meetings like that. How else could she have it all exactly like it would go? What a hoot. Thanks, Val. Polly

I like the Superior varigated. They change about every inch so you don't get long runs of a specific color.

Yeah, that's the one I like! The King Tut varigated!

That's my favorite, too. The main thing I like about it is the quality -- no slubs, no weak spots. You can just concentrate on quilting.
