Major Happy Dance -- That White Silk Quilt

TA-DAAAAA -- it's finished :-). I don't ever remember being this happy to be finished with a quilt! DH took pics this evening but they didn't turn out -- the color is all wonky with all of that white. When he gets home tomorrow, we'll go outside and see if we can't get a better pic. As soon as I get something, I will post it and let you all know. It is a pretty quilt but totally frivolous and can't ever really be used. We'll just call it an art quilt and let it go at that :-))! Happy, happy dancing for you, Mary. I had forgotten how very hard it is to stitch 'just' white until we began dressing bride dolls for the children's shelter. Just wondering - now that you have your white silk creation done, are your eyes and fingers yearning to quilt happy primary colors?, some yummy florals?, puppy paws? or what is calling to you? The gators will be waking and singing out back in just a hour or so. I will take them something that tastes like chicken and do a celebration dance for you. Polly

I wonder if the "tastes like chicken" stuff will still be wriggling? HMMM, I doubt if the gators would give a rat's patootie -- LOL! Anyway, I *wish* I could start on something just for MOI but no such luck. At my monthly luncheon the first part of the month, the Christmas Angel Tree was there. I was waiting in line to choose the person for whom I would get a gift when one of the women already around the tree looked up, saw me and gave a little squeal. She handed me the tag she was holding and said "Here, you should do this one!" I took it from her and it was for a woman who asked for a lap blanket!!!! VBS, I begged a number of orphan blocks from the other quilters in the group so now I have a lap quilt to put together -- BEFORE 06 December. Of course, I DO have to do some sewing for the SMDGD and that's no chore :-). First I will make her an outfit (skort & vest) of Santa fabric. After that is the Christmas dress for which she chooses the fabric each year. This year she chose a nice black cotton with little holly sprigs and large pairs of r/w/g mittens with KITTIES in them :-). I'll use some of that pretty red Christmas plaid left over from the Santa vest for the bodice -- assuming it comes through the wash OK first. Now, THAT stuff will be totally fun to sew as the SMDGD is really pleased when GrandMother sews her stuff :-). CiaoMeow >^;;^<
