Our SM dealer will never, ever win a Miss Congeniality trophy. When I asked about a ruffler attachment, he growled, "Your old Singer one will do just fine". It does. I'm so glad you did some research and found a better price. I'm happy to support the small business folks too but that one is just going too far. Polly

Could it have been that your dealer was selling the ruffler foot made by the company that made your sewing machine & the one you found on EBay was a generic foot? I purchased a generic walking foot for my Viking, but when it failed to work after quilting one quilt, I invested in a Viking foot & it's like a Timex watch - keeps on ticking.

A lady in my quilting class bought a "Viking" walking foot for her machine for the dealer for $80 & couldn't get it on her machine. She asked for my help & I knew I could do it, cause it was a Viking. As soon as I picked it up, I knew it was a generic - it was very light & didn't have the logo on it. She took it back & got what she needed - for the same price - but he sold her the generic for $80!!! That was really unethical if you ask me.

Hi Pauline, I handled both of the feet, one in the shop, then the one at home after I bought it. I honestly could not tell the difference. And after talking to a sewing machine dealer. I think you are right, there are some generic feet that are not worth the shipping cost. This one works really well, at a $45 savings, it works even better! :-)

Thanks for your comments, I appreciate hearing I am not the only one who feels some dealers are just off the charts with their prices.
