8x8 Circle Of Friends Album

Okay Here is a challenge and a fun thing we are going to do as a group. I am going to purchase and embellish an 8x8 album for this news group and the friends we have all made. I will then create a page, for the album, of me. I will use pictures of myself, my family and what have you, but there must be at least one picture of myself. I must journal, and I must use my favorite techniques! Also include with the page, a step by step( or as close as possible) guide to how I did it, and what tools and things I used. Then I will Send it to the next person on the list and he/she will do the same. I think this should go to as many people as we can get it to, and just keep on sending away! If you would like to participate, send me your name, and address. I will then match up each person with a buddy. Your buddy will be the person you send the book to next. If you do not feel comfortable sending me your address, then please at least send the state you are located. I will try and match up the states and nearby for less postage. If there are any questions feel free to pos them just in case someone else has the same question!!

Lets get this book started!!

Oh forgot one thing. If a longer member of this group would like to start this book and create the album itself please let me know. I can buy the album and mail it to you and let you decorate. I also was thinking maybe we could all create one embellishment for the cover and add them as we go. That way its not done by just one person. Since we all have our own style.!

NONONONONONO...... do this instead, then EVERYONE involved gets a book to keep!!!!

Get everyone who wants to do it to sign up with you.. then make a list in the order things should be sent... give everyone a month per cycle... get each person to make their own book and then when the next person gets it... they add their page... and at the end, everyone gets theirs back with all the pages in it!

This way EVERYONE gets a book!! Not just one person....

Okay that sounds good...But I am confused! (blonde) Do we each buy the book our self? We make a page and send it and wait for the next book? lol I read that like 10 times and I tried real hard. But I AM BLONDE..........lmao...

Okay what happens is you get everyone to sign up (say 10 people sign up). So you get those 10 people on a list... with addresses. You email this list to EVERYONE in the list... the person AFTER Them on the list (say, I'm number 2 on the list, so I send it to number 3 on the list)... and each person sends it on to the next person on the list... and at the end, the origional owner gets it back.

Every person buys an album (I use CM 7x7 ones), either 6x6, 7x7 or 8x8, your choice... what I do is string all the pages together and only send the pages so that its lighter and cheaper to ship... t hen put in the album when it comes back, and the album is saved all that wear and tear...

each person gets one month to do this (mailing time, etc, so everyone would have them shipped out by the same day)... each month you get the next one, and after 10 months (10 people), you get yours back, completed!

If your overwhelmed, let me know, I've hosted a bunch of these and done over 20 circle journals....

And that way each person can also choose a theme for their own book if they want which creates a bigger challenge. You are not just makeing the same page 10 times..

Yup, I've done "my favorite things, people I love, places I love, If I could be anything, my life, etc" there are all kinds of neat themes... one girls I did had "what is in my purse"... and we all signed her book by putting our name in a little purse in a "display" on the front page.. it was cute... LOL

Okay bluejean you should email me and maybe we can double host this one? I have never been a host for anything..So the help would be great!

eek... no double hosting never works... I've tried that before... I say go for it hon... put out a call, get 10 people who want to be involved... make sure they are all in teh USA or are willing to pay international shipping (air, because of time constraints). Get their emails, names, addy's and phone numbers. Make sure they have been in swaps before (a few, because if they haven't and are just starting this the chances they will flake goes way up). The day of the deadline, put them all in order (closest states so nobody has to pay double zone on priority mail), then email to everyone the addys (not phone numbers, thats for you incase you need to trace someone down) and the order with the dates they are to be mailed by on it. On your end... print out this list and put each persons name on the bottom... when the next person recieves the journal, mark it down... then you know where they are at all times, and if anyone is late (then you get them to overnight it).

Just keep in touch about a week before mailing date is due to remind ladies they have to get it mailed... (and remind the procrastinators they gotta get it done!). Then make sure they post when they recieved the next one...

Okay, since you're all so new to the ng you can't remember or didn't know about our circle journal fiasco. Let me tell you about it. We've all been keeping our communications w/in e-mails and off the ng for quite some time now. Several of us have cj's currently out and about somewhere, but as it seems to be taking so long for them to cycle around, nearly 2 1/2 yrs now, some of us have just given up and requested for our own to be returned. Unfortunately some of the ladies are getting their's back w/ several entries and others w/ very few. I don't understand why it's so hard for some people to just get to the PO and mail something. That seems to be the biggest hold up. I've had Webster & Waddles circulating for over three years now and it seems to just be near impossible for folks to get to the PO, let alone getting them to send me a lo. I'm sorry, I'm babbling and venting now. I didn't mean to rain on your parade Marie. Things just seem to look so good on paper and then when you try to implement them the reality of the whole thing hits.

If you get a few people to sign up I wish you good luck and a speedy trip for your cj's. I really enjoyed getting to read everyone's entries in the ones I got. Another option could be that you just have others send you a lo to put in your album. I know that some of the folks here already have albums for this and those of us w/ cj's are going to do this once we get our own back again.

PS: Marie, have you mailed your rainbow swap yet? I e-mailed you yesterday.
