HI.

I'm trying to do a layout and I want to use the sing song that sortof goes like this:

Einey Meeney Miney Mo My Mother told me to .......?... and out goes Y O U

Does anyone remember the full song? Thanks.

Kate -

I've heard that version, of course now I can't remember that last line either! Sorry.....

The version I DO remember was:

Einey Meeney Miney Mo Catch a tiger by the toe, If he hollers let him go and you are it.....

Not sure if that helps.... I am sure there are MANY versions!

Good luck!

While I have a tendancy to think that way, way too much was made of this,

you may want to use something different one. In the process of looking this up I found the neates site, that plays and gives you the words to a large number of nursery rymes.

Enjoy!

Eenie, meanie, miney mo Catch a tigger* by the toe If he hollers make him pay Eenie, meanie, miney mo

*As this is a VERY old ditty and goes back pre-emancipation (I'm not sure the actual date), this was a similar word that rhymed with the now accepted tigger, while the original term is derogatory and no longer accepted, unless you want to invite either a civil rights lawsuit or a beating.

I haven't been able to find anything on the "My mother told me..." It appears to be completely separate as there is no reference in the places that I found this.

Hope this helps! :-) Theresa in IL

Einey Meeney Miney Moe Pick a trend by it's toe if its hard let it go if its easy use it all the time

Einey Meeney Miney Moe Making Memories said to Pick just one so I pick y-o-u - my Quilling Tool. Thanks a bunch,

Oh my goodness! Now that is just too far!!! That has been a counting out rhyme all of my life (69 yrs)! Kids don't discriminate !!! We also had one that went: Wire Briar Limber Lock Three geese in a flock One flew east one flew west and one flew over the cuckoos nest or........... how about one potato two potato....... Do you think Idaho would be offended?. LOL !!!

HI.

I wasn't gonna use the original jump rope song just a rendition of it.

Plus I'm a New Yorker so I'm used to walking a very very tight line. Peace, Kate

I had never heard of the derragatory version myself. It had just never crossed my mind that the only toe being caught was the tiger's. Between that rhyme, and "My mama and your Mama," and "One potato, two potato" how else does anyone become "it"?

You guys are going to be surprised at this one. I lived for a brief time in Long Beach, CA and went to school with a lot of gang members (when they'd show up) and the version I heard was this.... (no offense to anyone please!) Just thought I would share this is fun :)

Eenie Meenie Minie Moe, Catch a Low-Rider by the toe, If he hollers make him say "Surfers rule all the way"!

LOL! Kids...

Yikes to that lawsuit. I mean really. I understand that the original is offensive, but it's not like the flight attendant meant anything by it - it was a completely different context. Sigh. I worry about litigous this society is.

Anyway - I'll step off my soapbox. I love the other site! What a great resource!

You know that I'm with you on people becoming so PC that pretty soon we won't dare to say anything about anything. It is sad that the ladies felt insulted, unbelievable that they would sue and beyond absurd that they won! I was just trying to make sure that we are all aware when we show our albums that someone might actually get offended. PErsonally, I don't give a ....

Yeah, I remember it that way too. If he hollers make him pay fifty dollars everyday. Out go you. Then you said it again and got another one out til only one was left. Irene
