Trying to post

Hi all! I'm new to the group but having a heck of a time posting. This is another try...

If I make it... I'm Stephanie! I'm excited to have found this group - it looks fantastic. I'm new to quilting - taking a class at a local shop and love it.

The roll call post is a great way to get familiar with you all!

Hi Stephanie!

I'm new to the group also, though I've been quilting for a while. These wonderful people are friendly and I'm having far too good a time around here.

:Thanks everyone!

I'm in California, - the San Francisco bay area. I'm a transplant from the east - raised in upstate NY, several years in DC, few in Cleveland and then landed here.

We've just finished putting our squares together in class on our small quilts - this week we're putting on the borders. The piecing went very well - I never realized how detail-oriented/precise quilting was though...it struck a chord with my type-A tendencies...

I grew up with my Mom quilting so I'm familiar with it (that means watching someone do it...) but just now got bit by the bug to try for myself. Cross stitch has been my main craft hobby for over 20 years but it's time to try something new too! My Mom is thrilled :)

: I thought there would be few people from nearby! I lived in Berkeley for years, then a couple at Lake Merrit. I just moved in with my boyfriend in Redwood City - big change living on the peninsula but I'm loving it (and not missing the commute!!)

Where in the Bay Area?? My DH and I have bounced back and forth between AZ and the Bay Area much during the past (almost) 39 years. The last time we lived in "The Village" (San Lorenzo). We miss our friends and the Bay.

I had to laugh about the type-A tendencies thing. I'm a perfectionist and my major in college was math, so I was destined to move from sewing to counted cross stitch to quilting I think! lol

Howdy!

Pretty place. We used to live in San Mateo, before that in Sunnyvale. Nice place to visit.

Thought I was the only quilter there at the time. ;-P

R/Sandy-- braving the winds in sunny n.Tx.
