album - help please

I finally bought an album. It's a post bound from K&Company. At home I tried to open the screws but they wouldn't open. Do I need a special tool or am I just not pressing hard enough? It's my first scrapbook and I'm a little worried to brake it... Can somebody please give me some advise?

I've used a K & Co. album, and the screws were a little tight. Maybe they want to make sure it doesn't come apart in shipping? :-) You shouldn't need a special tool, though.

On occasion I've had an album whose screws were so tight that I had to use pliers and a screwdriver. If you still haven't gotten it undone, Susanne, it may simply be that one side is simply turning around and around while you try to undo the other. Make sure that isn't happening by taking a look at the other side from the one you are unscrewing. It is is, just take a pair of pliers to hold that side steady. There is little likelyhood that you will do any harm at all, I never have.

Susanne, if you don't have a pair of pliers that fit, try a dime. I've found that holding the large end of the post in place with a dime in the big slot makes unscrewing the other end easier. The posts are usually *very* tight the first time you try to open them. Adding posts can also be difficult because some of the extensions just *don't* fit. Try another one. I have accumulated several extras (every refill package has a couple, and I never need all of them), and I've found that when one just won't go in all the way, the next one I try fits fine. In spite of the hassle, I love my post albums. Good luck with yours!

I found a great item at my lss last week. Making Memories has album posts that you can replace the original post with. I bought two differnt lengths,

20 mm and 40mm. They are much nicer than adding extensions as they don't seem to wobble as much. Check them out at:

Thanks for all your help. I tried it again yesterday using pliers and a screwdriver. It worked! They were pretty tight though.

Cathy & Karen, you can get the posts in several lengths at the hardware store for around a quarter. They're in the section where all the screws & bolts are, in drawers. I don't know how much they are at the lss, but I imagine if it's packaged for sb it's prolly higher.
