LO's for Jessie's Birthday - Please sign up here

For those who don't know who Jessie is, she is one of our dear members who close to a year ago was involved in a terrible car crash. Jessie is very slowly regaining some abilities, but she still can't use her hands or leave her bed and of course she can't scrapbook yet. She is living with her parents now and is house bound. Her birthday is Feb 11th and I am hoping that we can send her something special. I was thinking of a 12x12 scrapbook for her filled with your layouts. But it has been brought to my attention that it would be easier and cheaper for everyone to send me 8.5x11. So if you haven't started your layout yet, I propose that we change to that smaller format. You must make at least one page, but can make as many as you want. Your page can be about a meeting that you've had with someone from RCS, it can be a recipe, as Jacqui reminded many of us, Jessie loved participating in our recipe swaps, OR it can be about you and your experience on RCS. Please find a way to include the following on the front of at least one page so that Jessie and her mom can tell who this is coming from and make sure that you write your name on the back of all other pages.

  1. Your Name:
  2. Where you live
  3. How long you have been posting to RCS
  4. If you've met Jessie

You MUST get the layout to me by January 31st so that I can assemble the book and get it to Jessie in time for her birthday. We need at least 20 pages to fill the album so please, consider taking a little time out of your busy schedules to give Jessie a boost. Birthday cards are welcome even if you don't make a layout.

So far Sandy (RCS Meet LO) , Deb (RCS Meet LO), Jacqui (Recipe Swap) and Lynne (Recipe Swap) as well as myself (recipe and meet LO) have let me know that they are willing to participate. If you are willing to get a LO or card to me by JANUARY 31st, please either post it here with what you are committing yourself to doing or email me at mccplg AT comcast DOT net

Thanks all and I hope you have a great week!

M-C, I always make at least one extra recipe swap page when I make them. Some I give to people I meet at crops or to a friend just getting started in recipe swaps. I will look and see what I have (maybe two or three left) and let you know. Sandy

M-C....I would like to be included and have started assembling my stash on the cropping table and my plan is being worked through in my head at the moment :o) However, I have a few questions and they are important before I proceed too far, so I would appreciate a quick response if possible. * I know how busy you are but others may answer on your behalf except for the date issue*

Firstly, we use A4 paper size here in the UK, which is narrower and longer than US 8.5 x 11. Consequently, I don't have PP's in that size and I don't have US size cardstock either :o( I plan to cut 12 x 12 down to suit but would need to depend on you to put my page/s in PP as I would just use a ziplock baggie to send them to you. Would that be OK with you? Are the PP's exactly 8.5 x 11 or is there a little wiggle room? I just need to know if I have to shave a fraction off the size before I start the LO?.....LOL

Is there any flexibility in the date M-C? I plan to tackle the page/s in the next day or so and I have cards already made up but I am worried that I couldn't get the stuff to you by the due date!!!!! I know you need time your end so if there was a postage delay would that be a major issue? LMK please! So many questions so little time....beginning to think like the white rabbit in Alice in Wonderland...."I'm late, I'm late for a very important date"......hahahahaha

I hope this is a quick enough answer, LOL! The cardstock is 8.5x11 and since I am placing it in a 3 ring book, I'll take care of the page protectors this end so that isn't a problem. As for the timeline, just send them and I'll make sure that they get to Jessie one way or the other. I can always send them on if they get caught up in the mail. But given how fast the last thing you sent me got here, I don't really think it will be a problem if the white rabbit bounces in the right direction, LOL!

Well M-C as you will already have realised...patience is NOT one of my virtues and Jessie's pages are almost done :o) I just came back to the PC to do my bit of journalling so I will scan and post the LO's when they are done. I have cut the 12 x 12 to 8.5 x 11 just measuring on the easy side rather than the hard size. The way I have done the LO's would allow for a little trim on the inside edge if necessary but I think they should be fine. Thanks for the quick response :o)

Sorry for the quality of the picture...it is really overcast and dull today and using the flash gives glare on the picture. I have omitted journalling in the interest of privacy and I have used file dividers that will include either more info about me or inspirational stuff for Jessie....probably the latter :o) Thanks in advance for looking!

I love the layout Marilyn! What a great picture! Can't wait to put everything together and send it to Jessie from us all.

I also wanted to make sure that everyone knew that anyone old or new to RCS can participate in this as long as you have posted an introduction.

Thanks M-C...will get most of the journalling done this evening then get it mailed off. I have scanned and stitched the LO and it is much better colourwise than the photo :o) You can view it here as it is much prettier colour than the first link

When looking at the layout I can only say one thing - WOW! If only a few of my layouts are this good I will be happy.

Won't be joining this one I am afraid, doesn't matter how fast I work, it won't make it to you anyway. I have never had the opportunity of chatting with Jessie, but I hope she recovers fully.

Regards

Helen....I have only been scarpbooking for just over a year! I am sure that your LO's are good examples of your talent also....you just can't see it!!!!:o) We are all our own worst critics but being a part of this group has inspired me to try out things and experiment with techniques that I thought were beyond my capabilities. Sharing what you do assists in boosting your confidence when others appreciate your work. You know....I truly believe that if you stop trying to create LO's like others (particular the big names) and scrap from the heart you can achieve wonderful things.

Her birthday kinda snuck up on me or I would have given it more time. I am sure that you'll have plenty of opportunities to join in and I look forward to seeing some of your work RL. While sharing online is great, it always amazes me how much better everyone;s layouts always are in person.

Sandy, I ,too always make an extra one or two recipe pages when I do a swap and usually give them to my daughter in Fla. I don't have any right now and am a bit 'over booked' with swaps and very behind in my srapping, so I don't think I can get a page in. I will try
