LO's for Jessie's Birthday - Please sign up here

Strange Judy, there was a time when I was young..err I mean younger... when you crossed your fingers behind your back when you were telling a lie..somehow it meant that your lie didn't count. Which is different from "keeping your fingers crossed" which means wishing you luck.

Weird, isn't it how language progresses differently at different times in different places!

Thank you Marilyn! That's realy special Deb!

Sabrina, your PeeWee had the same colours and markings as our first furbaby, Kiching. He found us one evening when we opened our flat door he was sitting there, looking in a very sad state but very friendly. He stole my heart immediately. He was so hungry, but we did not have any cat food and fed him milk and buttered toast that night! He loved it! He was about 3 years old at the time and although we put up "found" signs everywhere, no one ever claimed him. So we happily kept him and he moved with us a year later from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town (800km). He was such a gentle soul, always knowing just when you felt down and to cheer you up. And so clever!!! He could open doors by himself and absolutely refused to sleep anywhere but on the bed with us. He also never really bothered to go outside - maybe his bad memories of living on the street for a while. He was borrowed to us for only 4 years. I never knew one could grow to love another creature so dearly in such a short time. One day (one of the very few occasions) he was sitting in our front garden while the neighbour was spraying poison on his plants. The wind was blowing quite a bit and I guess he must have inhaled some of it. He just fell asleep. He was not sick at all. My DH and I both cried for days on end and even to this day (5 years later) I feel the pain. I can just imagine how hard it must have been to have such a dear friend for 21 years!! I love all my furbabies, but I will always have a special place in my heart for ginger cats.

Sorry for rambling so...

Thank you Sandy. It was made in such a hurry, but I just felt like I had to make a contribution.

Always, fascinating M-C! All the different customs. I love it :) You reminded me of another meaning of "crossing fingers" here in SA. I remember this from being a kid, don't see it that often now a days. If you wanted to stop something from happening - say the opposing team in a sports match getting points - you would put a "nix" on them. This would be to cross your fingers and make a cross (like an incorrect mark on a paper) in the air. Hehehe...almost forgot about that!

Judy, Your cat was truly meant for you all. Our dear old fellow did not like outside either. I think that is one of the reasons he lived so long. He did enjoy camping but preferred to stay inside the tent as much as possible, curled up on the sleeping bags . I think your dear little furbaby has a permanent place in your heart ,just as our little Pee Wee does in ours. One of the kids named him pee wee because he was so little when we got him but he was frisky.

Hugs, Sabrina

Glad my package arrived already...again that was pretty fast :o) Hope nothing ended up with dog-eared corners ROFL

Glad you had a chance to take a break and glance through the magazine...I thought it would give you some idea about the magazines we get in the UK. There is an ATC masterclass in it somewhere....although I haven't read it LOL That magazine is a fairly new publication....I think that was Issue 14 I sent you. Don't know if I would use the papers for anything though as I don't like the shiny surface. Enjoy!!!
