Donations and Update on Jessie and her BF

I spoke with Jessie's dad tonight and should be hearing from her mom in the morning. Once I do, I'll know exactly who I need to send the money to, since everyone on the group that I have communicated with agrees that it should go to the person that is paying the bills, which at this point, appears to be her mom. So once I speak with her and based on what she tells me is better for Jessie and her family I will either keep on collecting or I will give you details on where she would like us to send our donations.

Jessie's dad told me that he saw her today and she looked a lot better, though she is still under sedation to give the swelling in her brain a chance to go down and her other injuries (neck and arms) a chance to heal a little. As for her boyfriend, her dad told me that Jessie's BF's brother visited Jessie today and told Jessie's dad that a 4th surgery was performed on her BFs leg but that unfortunately the doctors decided that they could not save it, and so they went ahead and amputated below the knee.

Jessie's dad wanted me to be sure and tell all of you that his family appreciates your kindness, thoughts, prayers, cards and that he knows that they are making a big difference.

Donations received for Jessie to date:

March 31st: 1 x $12 CAD Today's Total: $12 CAD Grand Total: $120.00 USD

March 30th: 1 x $30 and 1 x $50 Today's Total: $80 Grand Total: $110.00

March 29th : 1 x $10 and 1 x $20 Today's Total: $30 Grand Total: $30

Thanks for the update on Jessie. I am glad to hear that she seems to be making progress but I am really sorry to hear that her BF has had his leg amputated after 4 surgical attempts to save it :o( How very sad!!!! Still keeping them both and their families in my thoughts!!!

I just got off the phone with Jessie's mom who is the one paying the bills. She wanted you all to know that your cards have started to arrive and that she is collecting them so as to read them to Jessie when she wakes up. She is very grateful for your show of support. She was on her way to Jessie's room where she is spending every minute of the day except when they kick her out to care for Jessie. She is sleeping in the waiting room so that she can be very close and plans on speding every day at the hospital until Jessie is out of the hospital. She also said that Jessie is looking better and that they are very gradually lightning Jessie's sedation.

I received another contribution this morning of $20 and I'll pitch in another $10 and send Jessie's mom a check for $150.00 this morning with the details of who sent what and their addresses if I have them. She has asked me to continue to coordinate our donations and I've agreed to do that since it is easier for everyone concerned.

Again, thanks for your show of support! I've even received a contribution from one of our lurkers! I've always said that this is a very special group of people and there is no doubt in my mind that this is true after seeing your support for Jessie. You can send Jessie a card at the following address:

With being a newbie here, I am in the dark about what has happened to Jessie and her BF and who she is. I looked under the "Meet Us" on the RCS website and read the bio on a Jessie from South Carolina (which is where I am). Does anyone mind telling us newbies what happened?

Jessie one of our beloved regulars was in a car accident on March 26th. She broke both her arms, has a serious neck injury and had to be sedated to allow the swelling in her brain to go down. They are slowly reducing the level of sedation, but it will be a very long time before she can return to work again. She is a single mom with 2 daughter and a grandaughter living with her which is one of the reasons that we are taking donations to help her out a little.

Speaking of donations I received a $40.00 donation today for Jessie, which I will send on to the family next Saturday. Deb and I mailed the $150.00 check off to her mom this afternoon.

This brings our weekly total to $40 and our total to date to $190.
