Jessie Update

Apr 03, 2005 70 Replies

Matt just called with an update. He and Zak are now in SC at Jessie's and he doesn't have internet access right now.

Jessie is no longer under sedation, but she hasn't woken up which is of serious concern to her medical team. She is on pain meds and she does respond to loud noices and having her feet tickled. Her boyfriend Harol is awake and aware but his right leg had to be amputated above the knee, rather than below, and his left hip is apparently smashed and will require extensive surgery.

Please send prayers/positive thoughts Jessie's way, she needs them now more than ever. And please also throw in a few more for everyone that Jessie loves and who love her that they may find the strength to get through this very difficult time.

Consider it done. More prayers are being said for all of us who care for Jessie and her loved ones.

Hugs, Kate

Prayers go out to Jessie and all of her loved ones. I think of her often.

Oh my Goodness, I missed this update somehow...thank you for leaving it in your msg Amy. Sending lots of positive thoughts and prayers Jessie's way. When I checked our website a few days ago to read the rules of the swaps, I came across one of her LO's and could not comprehend that the lady who created this wonderful LO is now in hospital! Hope she regains her consciousness soon. Thank you for keeping us updated M-C.

Thank you MC for passing on my update. I got a call from Jessie's mom on Tuesday. She was scheduled for surgery to insert a feeding tube, and also for a tracheotomy, but it is rescheduled for Wednesday. Jessie has suffered a diffuse axonal brain injury. I can't bring myself to write the description of what it is, because it will bring me to tears again.

We are all praying hard for God's intervention.

Hang in there Matt. We are all praying for Jessie's recovery. Sounds like a terrible time you and the boys and everyone else is going through. Just remember we are hear for your. I'll be thinking of you all and jessies. Please keep us posted. Can you email me an address where I can send a card. Thanks.

I don't only think of her A LOT, but cry and pray for her too. I worry that she will forget how to do so many of the wonderful tricks she knows!! Mom will have to teach her again!!

Many HUGS to her, Matt for keeping us informed, her family and his too.

It's the least I could do, Matt. You know that you can call me anytime if you want to talk.

Hang in there, Matt, we are praying that you continue to have the strength to be the dad you need to be right now. We all know that it can't be easy dealing with your children's sorrow and questions right now either!

Hugs, M-C

Matt, we'll all continue to pray for Jessie as well as the rest of the family, may you continue to have the strength needed during this time.

Oh Matt, I am keeping all of you in my prayers and now how hard this is for all of you. My heart goes out to her.

The surgery went fine, she doesn't have all the tube hanging out of her mouth anymore. Jessie is still in a coma, and she is a fighter, so lets pray that she does recover to where we all want her to be. The family thanks you for your support. Jessie's mom says the cards are all great.

I hope she keeps improving. I'll keep her and all in my thoughts.

My DS and I went to see Jessie today. She looks better with all but one of the tubes removed. She looks like she is just peacefully sleeping in the hospital bed. Her mom Patti has put up the cards on one of the tables in the room. The handmade cards look wonderful. Wish I could have used a flash in the room to take a picture of them, but they don't allow bright lights in her room.

The hospital spoke to Patti today about options of long-term care for Jessie, Patti and I didn't discuss it in much detail.

Thank you so very much for keeping us updated...I continue to pray for Jessie, her boyfriend and all of you... Arleen

Matt, please tell Pattie I have been thinking of her and tried to call Betty to get in touch ,but the number I have for her is no longer in service. We are all still keeping all of you in our prayers.
