Jessie Update

The DD heard from Jessie's mom last night. It's four weeks after the accident.

YOUR PAYERS HAVE BEEN HEARD!!!!

Jessie started opening her eyes yesterday. The physical therapist was been working with Jessie to open a line of non-verbal communication. Using one blink for no, and two for yes.

When you call her by name she will open her eyes, when asked if she is in pain she will respond with two blinks. I called the ICU today and spoke with Jessie's weekend nurse. She says that, Jessie wasn't in a coma; she was just not responsive. They have removed the trachea tube and closed the hole; they have also removed the casts on the arms. The arms look pretty nasty. She does have a very high temperature; they are working on that.

The DD and I plan to go down there on Sunday to see Jessie. The DD has Prom this weekend, other wise we'd go on Saturday. I'll update you on Monday.

This is wonderful news! She's been on the prayer list at my church and I get asked how she's doing. None of us know her personally but I know everyone will be happy to hear this news. Thanks Matt.

Update from Sunday trip to GA. I got a late start due to some teenager staying out into the morning and sleeping in. I didn't leave until

1PM, didn't arrive home until 11:30PM

I went up to Jessie's room. Delivered some information about Rehab clinics in KY that Jessie could be placed in. they all seem to be in Lexington, Louiville, there is also one in Elisabeth town, and maybe Bowling Green.

Jessie's Trach tube it still in. Other then scares from the pins being put in her right arm; the arms look ok. Her hands are still in the fisted position. While we were discussing the papers that I delivered, Patti asked Jessie to open her eyes. Jessie responded in kind. Patti asked if she heard another voice in the room, Jessie blinked twice. Patti then asked if Jessie recognized the voice and Jessie blinked twice. While her eyes were open, Jessie did seem to be staring off into the distance; I didn't see in tracking movement of her eyes though. I do believe that she is starting a comeback.

Matt, I'm so sorry I missed your call! I'm on new meds and they are wiping me out.... I'm SO glad to hear that!!! (beat the kid for me)... Jessie is in there! It's just a matter of time.. the body needs to heal. She is still on our prayer chain and will be until she is out and walking! I totally believe God for a miracle that Jessie will be totally healed and walking and talking!

Thanks for the update on Jessie Matt. Sounds like she is recognizing people and voices so she's in there. I hope she gets to come closer to home soon. I'll continue to keep her in my thoughts and hope she continues to make progress quickly.

We just got back from our weekly trip to GA. Jessie has been moved to her own room. Her mom stated the Jessie could see her if she was really close. So we delivered one of her many pair of her of glasses. We asked if it helped, but we're not sure if we got a definitive answer. Since this was the oldest DD first trip there since Jessie had started opening her eyes, she was asking many questions to her mom. Jessie did respond with blinks to almost all of them.

We also got to see Jessie's youngest daughter while there, we haven't seen her for three weeks. She appears to be in good spirits, and was happy to see her mom. She remembers when she was last there that we were not to speak loudly. We had to explain that it was ok now to talk to mom, that she could hear us. She finally asked "Mommy do you miss me?" Jessie responded with two blinks. Kenzie, had question about the trachea tube, and why she had the washrags in her hands. We explained what and why they were there. She seemed to take the answers in stride.
