Altering a clipboard?

I've got to whip up some door prizes for our church Coffee House night in a few weeks, so I went to the Dollar Tree today and grabbed a few things to alter - I got a little address book, a notebook, a couple of picture frames, and a chipboard clipboard. Do I have to do anything to the clipboard to prep it? What sort of glue should I use? Just a mountain of gluedots? (I can't use spray adhesive or a glue-gun because of fume issues...) I know some people here have done them before - advise me please!

Hi! I'm pretty new to this group and I thought this was as good a time as any to chime into the discussions...

I've never altered a clipboard before, but a while ago I came across the following articles on the HGTV website that have some neat ideas:

I made several this spring. I used modge podge to glue all my paper on. Then I used it on top as a sealer. As for putting my small embellishments on like metals or buttons I did use glue dots.

Karen, you just reminded me of something. Here in South Africa we have to take needlework as a compulsory subject up to grade 9. We use to keep our projects in shoe boxes and every year all the girls would "alter" there shoeboxes in pretty the same way as you described. Funny how I never made the connection with an "altered object" befor now!
