Anybody going to Croptoberfest?

I will be going this Saturday. I usually go to a "9a-9p" one, but this year that lady is doing it on the 22nd. I have a craft fair that day so I found another lady (goes to the same WW group I go to) and hers is this Saturday, but it's only 10-5. I will still get 7 hours of scrapping. She is charging $15 and it includes lunch. Since she does WW, she is doing a healthy lunch and I'm thrilled. I've set a goal of 15 pages and feel confident I can get that done with the power layout thingy. LOVE that thing!

Cecelia, Have a wonderful time. I know you'll have fantastic pages. I'm not throwing a Croptoberfest this year, we're just too busy this time around. Maybe I'll join one of my teammates Croptoberfests and play scrapper rather than consultant. Hey, that sounds like fun. Gotta go arrange that! Enjoy, can hardly wait to see what you do!

Where does one find a "Croptoberfest?"

I'm pretty sure it's a Creative Memories thing. If you don't know a consultant in your area, you could check their website. My "regular" is fixing to move (November) so I was thinking this was the last event I could attend of hers...then the date wasn't going to work for me. I was thrilled to find the other lady at my WW meeting.

A side note: Even though we moved here AFTER leaving the Marines, we live in a military town (Air Force Base less than 1 mile from our house). This is the FOURTH consultant who has moved away! My other "regular" (went to her monthly crops, but she didn't do the "big" events) moved in June. This is making me crazy! I always seem to find one to replace the one that leaves, but I would much rather keep the one I "train". LOL As an example, the one that moved in June (Mary) had crops every month (1st or 2nd Saturday, I can't remember anymore) from 11am to 5pm. We paid $10 and brought a potluck dish. These were held in the basement of her church (hence the money, it was a donation to the church). Her church was on a hill so we had NO stairs to go up or down with all our stuff. She arranged the tables in a square and always had an extra chair across from my spot (I like to put my feet up). When I first "found" her, she had the crops in her basement (not a walkout basement so there were stairs), from 6p-midnight (I am NOT a "night person"), etc. We (a friend and I) "trained" her. We got more people coming so we didn't "fit" in her basement, asked (in front of everybody else) if she would do a DAY crop for those of us who can't stay up late, etc. We had a blast and we were ALL there every month. My last order was $286. This was "normal" for me.

Now we have a new lady who has a husband in the military (they will be moving...). He is gone right now and she can't pay a babysitter so we HAVE to meet in her basement...down the stairs with our heavy carts. She was going to do this 6p-midnight on Friday, but I BEGGED her to do a DAY croptoberfest so she added the one this Saturday. I filled FOUR seats for her! I would much rather do the all-day crop, but she just can't do it with her kids upstairs the whole time. I always figured that if I am dragging my crap all the way across town then I might as well crop as long as I can! LOL So, we are getting 7 hours (10a-5p) and she is doing lunch and snacks for us ($15 charge). I would love it if she offers something like this every month. I tend to not scrap unless I am at a crop. People have asked why I don't just hold crops of my own. I do! BUT, then I get NOTHING done because "I'm working"...teaching a technique, answering questions, etc. I like to go to somebody else's crop, pay and be a regular person. Also, I do LOVE their products.

Thanks Cecelia I'll check around. My 2 CM consultants stop doing it, because they said it took too much money to keep it going. They were mostly hobbyiest and didn't want to build a business.

I just got an invite to a Croptoberfest in a neighboring town for Friday night. She said she has hourly drawings and we earn extra tickets in the drawing for every completed LO, bringing a dessert, bringing a new person. It's only from 6 to 11 so I won't bring a lot of stuff - just the LO's bags I have ready and my basic tools. She said she has every tool CM ever made for our use so don't pack heavy....... Sandy

Cecelia, I'm sorry to hear you've had such difficulty maintaining a CM consultant. Sounds like you're an ideal customer, wish you were in Seattle! LOL. One of our goals as Creative Memory consultants is to develop lifelong relationships, turning customers into clients and friends. And it sounds that through your training of Mary, you were indeed developing such a relationship. I hope that your new lady will be all you desire in a consultant. Good for you for helping her see that an all day Croptober Fest is the way to go! It sounds like it will be successful and a lot of fun. Sandy and Lynn, I hope that you too will have a great time. This is an annual celebration of scrapbooking with new product designed specifically for participants. Be sure and let us all know what great fun you had and share those layouts with us!

I went to the Croptoberfest on Friday night. Didn't get there until almost 7 Pm as I had a late parent at the daycare. I did get my 12 recipe swap pages finished for my monthly crop group. I posted it in my Misc album in webshots. This was the first time I printed a background page for a LO. Everything for the swap pages came from my stash except three sheets of brown cardstock. I also used one more of the rainbow swap kits - black, and posted it in the Rainbow Swap Album. I've had it for a while so is the kit considered part of the stash? There is a new 2 page LO in Jesse's album - baseball, and one called Flower Garden in Sandy's album. I guess I didn't do bad getting 16 pages done in one evening (counting the 12 pages for the recipe swap)

Only the day I took the pictures - I had gone through and rearranged and sorted papers into the new drawer system I'd purchased. Most of the time I can't find the table..... Thanks for looking. I appreciate the feedback. Sandy

Thanks! I wasn't very lucky though. Didn't win a single prize the entire evening. The CM lady had never seen a recipe page before and wouldn't count it as a finished page for tickets in the drawing because it didn't have pictures on the page. I felt it was her loss - the rest of the group really liked it. Sandy

Thanks! It really helped as I had put together the page kits with all the supplies I thought I would need. Sure makes it easier to get LO's done at crops. Sandy

Wow! You got a lot accomplished! I love your recipe pages and all the ways you used bottlecaps. (I'm really going to have to use mine one day. LOL)

I love smashed bottlecaps......the best investment I think I made in tools was one of the mini circle punch sets from DM. The 1" hole punch is a perfect fit for the bottle caps. Thanks for looking. Sandy
