Christmas Cards for Troops posted

I gave MC some cards for the troops. I didn't get to scan all of them in, but I did get to scan in some. They're on my Yahoo photo page, in the Cards album. They're all Christmas cards, but I also gave MC some blank cards with hearts on the front that the troops can send back home. I also signed a couple thank-you cards, too. They really need to know that people are thankful for what they're doing. Sharing these cards with the troops really makes me feel so much better!

I like those snowflakes you used! Really cool! Are they embossed? I SOOOO want to get into stamping and embossing! I have never done it, but I love the look of it, and I get overwhelmed at times with ideas, and looking at others' work really gets me going! LOL Nice work! Linda C

I can't get your page to load :( Not sure what I'm doing wrong. Is there another place to look at the cards? I would love to see your work :)

Thanks Linda. Yep, the snowflakes are embossed. Both of the snowflake cards have embossed snowflakes over PearlEx. I can't remember what the technique is called, but I can tell you how to do it. :-)

You'll need glossy cardstock, not regular cardstock. It has to be glossy. I doubt photo paper will work, because it's different chemicals to make it glossy compared to glossy cardstock. You'll also need Pearl Ex powder. I believe you can get it at Hobby Lobby or Michaels. And you'll need some good 'ol cheap hair spray in a pump bottle. Add some Pearl Ex to a small amount of hair spray. If you just want to try it out, use a travel size pump bottle of hair spray, or a similar sized bottle and pour hair spray in it. (hope that makes sense!) Add some Pearl Ex to your hair spray. It doesn't take very much to do this. Put the lid back on the hair spray and shake to mix the Pearl Ex in. The rest is easy. :-) Spray the glossy side of your glossy cardstock. Let it dry. It makes a really pretty background. You can heat emboss over it, just make sure you keep moving your heating gun/tool around so the heat from it doesn't make the hairspray too hot. Wouldn't want flames! LOL

Well...poop! Chrissy also has a problem looking at my Yahoo page. I have no idea why, either. Unfortunately though, the Yahoo page is the only gallery I have. :-(

You did a great job on the cards for the troops Deb. What a nice thought to include some blanks that the troops can send to loved ones at home :o)

Take care, Marilyn

My brother is serving in Iraq right now, and if he received something like this, I know he would greatly appreciate all the effort you and the others who participate put into each and every card! :*)

Thanks for supporting our troops!
