September Challenge - Card Gifts to US Troops

Since we are all planning on sitting down and making Christmas cards I thought this would be a challenge that would help us get that done as well as help others who, given the current circumstances, might be forgotten. There is an ALTERNATIVE/Supplementary Scrapbook Challenge just before my signature at the bottom of this email.

This challenge is being held in conjunction with Kelly G, a member of Soldiers Angels. As part of making your Holiday cards, what you are being asked here is to make a few extra cards that will be sent to Kelly for onward transmission to Soldiers Angels for distribution. Kelly needs the cards to her by October 15th, but since this is our September Challenge, you have till the end of the month to complete and send the cards. Please email me if you are participating and I'll send you Kelly's snail mail address. Let me know how the total of Holiday cards (Xmas, Hannukah, Quanza, simple Holiday) that you plan to make. If you get bored with making Holiday cards, which you need to but a personal message in, like thank you for all you have done for us, and happy (whatever), you can also make cards for any occasion and sign those as well they will be distributed to the forgotten. They can also use cards that are unsigned for them to send out to family and friends. Please don't forget to share with us a few samples of your cards!

Here are a few words from Kelly: ____________________________________________________________________________ ________________

The Christmas cards are going ot be going to combat hospitals. not just one.. but all over the place. We had a request from the founder of Soldiers Angels for 20,000 Christmas cards. There are a little more than one hundred gals on the cards team and we need as much help as we can get. if you have any other questions please email me and I would be glad to help.

Oh and we can always use other cards as well. Right now I am working on filling up a flat rate box of "blank" cards to send to a Marine unit that just got over seas. the need cards to write home with.

****[I asked Kelly if they also send cards to other coalition troops, specifically Australian and Canadian troops]

I am really not sure about the other troops! I wish I had an answer for that question. if I find out about the other troops that are there from other countries besides the US I will let you know, as I would love to send them something as well.

Yes, Christmas cards signed. All others can be signed or not signed. I have a box that is going to be full of the blank cards.. but we always have a list of people that need cards sent to them for encouragement and birthdays. please if you would like you can put the Soldiers Angels website on the post .. if people want they can also join SA!

ALTERNATE September Challenge

Thanks to Amy L for the suggestions. I've decided to take her up on these for the alternate challenge.

Since not all of us have children in school, you have a choice of doing a layout on Back to School or Volunteering.

In either case, the layout should include a small file folder of some sort for your journaling, a clip of some kind, 2 eyelet or brads,

LOs can be 1 or 2 pages and any size.

Enjoy!

I printed this out... I'm going to make some cards and then get people at church to write in them for me since they're American and I'm not!

Karen, I'm not an American either, though this is home now. I just have a bit of a problem with one of the descriptions on the American passport, which we don't have in our Canadian ones, and they won't allow me to write in human, I'm sure! But my feeling is that it will mean just as much for them to know that a Canadian or an Aussie cares for them as an American.

I finished 8 Christmas cards for the troops! I posted them on my webshots if you wanna take a peek at them! There are two other cards I also scanned in. The new ones start in my cards folder, starting with "Just a note". Everything I used for these cards was from my stash, and I even used some scraps! I finally got to use some of the Christmas set that I got from LTD catalog. I know I can't score any points for using my stash for the cards....WAH! But thats ok, its for a good cause! :-)
