My eyelet setter is different than theirs. It has different srew on tips for setting different size eyelets. I have two types of eyelets. The smaller ones have a longer shank and a back ring. When I try to set these the shank starts to curl but then it bends slightly distorting the hole and eyelet front. I've tried tapping lightly and going very slow but the distortion still happens. The larger eyelets have a very short shank and no back ring. I followed Kenda's advice to try setting eyelets on a hard surface and finally successfully set my first eyelet with no distortion. It looks good. Thanks Kenda! I had given up on eyelets. Now I can at least use the larger eyelets. I can't wait to try them on a layout this afternoon. Encouraged by the success setting the larger one, I tried setting a couple of the smaller eyelets. The eyelet came out distorted. I tried setting one without the back ring and the same thing happened. It is as if the shank on the smaller eyelets is too long.
