I've been ...welll..... fastenated with the full sized Fastenator, but at the $25 price I wasn't enough to buy one. I saw one at Walmart and the price was $19.96... its getting close to a price I might have to get one.

Above link is an example of what I'm talking about. Lynne
I bought one of the small staplers at Mrs B's. It was $12.99 w/ 10% off. I too debated between the big one and the little one. I'd never used staple embellishments before. I tried to think of how I would use the big one verses the smaller one. I think it came down to would I staple onto a matted object (e.g. picture to mat) or staple the mat to the background paper (e.g. stapling fibers as a space filler).
I chose to go with the smaller more portable model. I decided I could always staple the fibers and then use glue dots to position on the background. I used it while at the barn. I stapled the mats. Somehow I didn't take a photo of that LO. :-(
FYI if you want colored staples (metallic colors) take a regular stapler open it up and pull the staples out, now get a nice set of permanent markers (like sharpie) in different colors and color the staples with the pens, then put them back in the stapler and presto.
I used to do this in school. If you could find paints that will work with metal, you might be able to do it with those too for a non-metallic look.
I have never used the paint. It would have to be "sticky" paint so that it wouldn't chip off when applying the staples. I would think that paint made for metal would help with this I just don't know if it would be 100%. I know the permanent markers are. Never had a problem with them.
I know when I'm back stateside there is ALWAYS something I can use at Wally World LOL I bought my fastenator over here at our post craft store for $25. :( STinks to be over here and paying to ship stuff for the store LOL So i'm loaded up now for that :D Now, does Fastenator have "normal" colored staples? That's what I really need... color staples to put in the middle. I have color staples, but the contraption doesn't take normal ones :(
