HELP ~ 1st Anniversary present idea

Hi guys,

As the subject suggests our 1st anniversary is coming up. I can't believe time has gone by soooo fast =) But next month it'll be a year and I want to give DH something special.

I thought about getting one of those picture frames that hold several different size pictures and use pics from the past 3 years we've been together. On one square I would list our "special dates" (ie bdays, other silly anniversaries, etc,)

It sounds too cheesy for a guy, though =P

Any ideas?

PLEEEEEEASE!!!!! You know how special the 1st year is. TIA

Angie

I don't think your idea is cheesy at all - especially if your guy is a mushball deep down like most of them are!! I think it's sweet.

I agree.. if hes kinda mushy... would be great.. I think I got hubby all new computer components for our 1st.. he had no idea i was getting him anything.. And i knew nothing about computers at the time.. So It took me FOREVER to find all the right stuff for his computer.. which is what meant the most to him.. I took GREAT strides to get the stuff he loves.. he still has all that old stuff.. and we will be married 12 years in june! can ya say.. DINO stuff! Let us know what you end up doing.. Sounds like it will be great no matter what you get him.

Years ago (we've been married 17) I decided to take the pain out of our anniversary day... the pain being what gift to give... he seemed more in pain than I did and just spend time with one another. Now that we have children this gift to each other is SO important. Our gift is to set the evening or even the whole day a side to just do something together. It's been as simple as our favorite restaurant and as complicated as a bed and breakfast over night.

I'm sure he'd love to have pictures, but maybe you might start thinking of the day as a day to celebrate being together. I figure with birthdays and Christmas and the "just because" there are plenty of days for presents with us.

All the best, Lynne

I love the idea of the pictures. In my experiences, I can tell you we haven't done anything for our 10th which was 2 days ago, but I think we will be having a belated celebration in NYC. He did give me a funny card and it made me cry. On our first anniversary we were so broke we agreed to spend $20 a piece on each other. We went to the mall and had a scavenger hunt to find a gift in an hour. I wanted to stay within the budget so badly but I wanted him to have something nice. I decided to get something he would enjoy when he couldn't have (or sometimes didn't want) my presence. So I splurged and got him a fishing vest. He loves to fish and usually does it with his buddies. Until recently I didn't have an interest. I keep fish as pets--right now we have 5 fishtanks. He loves that fishing vest. It is now pretty worn but I don't think he will ever throw that thing away. Hope my ideas help. Jacqui

I think it's a great idea. He'll love it because you put a part of you in it.

Sounds lke a wonderful and sentimental idea. My DH and I have been together for over thirty five years and he still likes to get those sentimental type gifts. They are special and can't be bought from Wal Mart. :-)
