Holy Cow! What a day....

I am going to play "Polyanna" and say how blessed I am that I have NOT had many days like this, but I seriously don't know if I could survive another... First, I had to go get my license renewed. Nothing like reminding a person they are about to be a year older. The picture was HORRIBLE (of course) and the fee had gone up $5. Since DH's birthday is in April, he took the day off so we could go together and ended up costing us $10 more. Nothing huge, but it's the principle. Then we find out that the insurance company made a "boo-boo" last April with a bill and we owe $50 to the hospital. Just another piece of bamboo under the fingernail. We drop off my van to get new brake pads at Sears. When we get there they have NO record of us calling the day befor and making an appt. So, DH goes through EXACTLY what he wants. New brake pads on the rear brakes...NOTHING MORE! Next, grocery shopping (my favorite...just behind getting a Brazilian wax). We head to the Super Wal*Mart. After the annoying empty shelves and non-existence employees when you need help and the missing price stickers (running to the price finder of which there are only FOUR in the entire store and the closest one didn't work!) then we finally make it to the register. I have dealt with rude people before, but this experience has made me say I will NEVER go in ANY Wal*Mart again. I was accused of stealing! Yep, I get all my groceries rung up (over $100) and hand them TWO coupons (one was $1 off 2 boxes of Reese Puff Cereal and the other was 70¢ off Yogurt Cheerios) and the cashier turns on her blinking light. The "red vest" approaches and tells me that those coupons are fraudulent. I told her that I got them online at (feel free to verify that those 2 coupons are there). The website was even printed on the side. She said that they couldn't accept them because I could have just made them up and printed them. "Could have"??? The people behind me were looking at me...

I live in a small community in Southern Indiana. We don't even have a Wal-Mart, just a Dollar Store and a Pamida. The closest Wal-Mart is 13 miles away, and it's not a super store. The closest super Wal-Mart is 22 miles away. I like to shop the Pamida whenever I can. They will honor any ad I bring in to the store so I can get some good deals there and I am shopping locally. I used to work at Wal-Mart. One day when they checked my drawer as I was getting off work it was $20 off. They sent me to sporting goods to dust shelves for an hour while they rechecked the drawer and wouldn't let me leave the store to go home. The lady in the back kept coming up short, but finally a manager recounted and it came out right as two new bills were stuck together. They had someone watching me the entire time I dusted. When they finally told me I could go home I gave them my two weeks notice before I left. I never allowed any of my children to work at Wal-Mart. Sandy

That sounds crazy! No phones that can call out? why don't they just install phone booths?

Good Heavens Sandy! That is just horrible. As a teenager, I use to work as a cashier for pocket money. Many a day our tills did not balance and were out with a rand or two, but they made allowance for that. If it happened on a regular basis they would deduct it from your salary, but you definitely were not made to feel like a criminal! Negligent at the worst. I would not even shop there again if I were you.

Yes, that's slightly more disgusting than seeing employees wash their hands and then pull on the same door handle to get out as those who don't!

I think in this day and age of cell phones public phones are going by the way side and sounds like work phones are too.

Ah thanks Lynne! I was looking for the word "public phone" and could only come up with "phone booths". Yes, sometimes technology can be a step backwards instead of forwards, I guess :)
