Did you have a bad time?

Yes. and No.

Alyssa was beautiful in her communion dress. Tim, her father, boycotted the whole event and didn't even go. Alyssa was fabulous in her three "meet in the street" exhibition dances.

Picture it: 10 foot high ceilings, no carpeting, open floor plan and a

6 year old screaming at the top of her lungs in that pitch only kids can reach for 45 minutes straights as her mother wouldn't do anything and Larry made me keep my mouth shut all because the 6 year old couldn't wear the shorts her sister was wearing.

Picture it: same 6 year old, same high pitch but in an enclosed car. However this time I had a migraine and hit the roof and said "nicole be quiet I have a headache or I will throw up on you. your mother said no and the last time I heard it wasn't up for debate."

Picture it: Larry and I wanted to go to a museum and wanted to borrow a car as we brought my GPS device. His mother's response "it costs money to go to a museum and you are saving for a house." I guess we were grounded.

Picture it: Francine, my SIL, says to me "Kate you won't make much of a mother because you have no patience. Watch me and learn how to be a parent." I stopped talking to everyone except Larry and Alyssa and this was day two. I would rather follow Elizabeth's example of parenthood because Nicole's 45 minute meltdown would have ended within

3 seconds. I have a ton of patience and totally dislike my sister in law.

Picture it: Alyssa's communion party. Tim's brother, NC Sheriff mind you, (white, tall, stupid) chimed in on the political race (as the NC primary was this week) called Obama a "N******" and I hit the roof. Everyone hushed me and whispered ignore him. I said really loudly "you all can ignore ignorance but I refuse to have that word said around me" and I turned and said "you can tell your fellow clansman that we in the North won the war and it is about time you jack asses remember that." He turned to Larry and said "you should tell your wife to respect men as they have all the power and women need to be home and pregnant." Happily Larry said "the fact you are still standing means my wife is showing restraint. Do not use that word near me or her." A friend of the family said "Kate it is about time someone put him in his place and I applaude you for doing it, it took guts and I appreciate it."

Picture it: I'm scrapbooking quietly and my SIL says to me "why do you have a lap top I thought the two of you were saving for a house why would you buy something so extravagant. you really should watch your money more carefully as I don't know why you should need something like that. I should write you up a budget so you can stick to it and save more. I also should call your mortgage banker to get them to consider you for other loans as I don't think they chose the right one for you." I looked at her and said "mind your own business, why we have a laptop is none of your business. You and your mother really need to get a life as running mine is going to run you right into a wall. We are on a budget and it is none of your business what is on that spreadsheet and how much we spend a month. I will not give you our telephone number to our banker as you are nothing to me and have no reason to talk to Karen other than to interfer. I hear Nicole is having another meltdown do you want to parent or shall I."

So if it wasn't for Alyssa or my Father-in-law I would have had a horrible time. I'll be uploading some more layouts and the photos from North Carolina. The next vacation is in September with my best friend Tom. I can't wait. Also my in laws are leaving for Mexico next week and I can't wait. I also have to go for surgery for my breast as they found a 4 cm long lump in it but it is ok. In my new found faith (I'm not born again, just getting better at it), I'm taking it one day at a time.

I'm turning 40 on Friday and I look forward to a day of work and then a day of printing the album for Susie.

Hugs all, Kate

Kate, you have to put up with your MIL cause she is Larry's Mom but your SIL, well, you ought to punch her right in the mouth.

Wow Kate I don't know how you made it through that trip. I would have been in a motel room the first night. I don't think I would have been as nice as you were.
