Well we had a great time at Ikea even although we were stuck in traffic for over an hour on the way there and spent a fortune. We bought a new bedframe and mattress, which we have already assembled and I can't wait to go to tonight....LOL You can see bedframe here

*10144 It was not what we went to Ikea to buy but I have been looking for a new bed for a few months now and this one just fit the bill :o) Strike while the iron is hot and DH is in a compliant mood is what I say...LOL He is a sweety really! We bought this bookcase (but not in white) for the craft room. This was what I did intend to purchase, as it will better house my craft supplies that the current old bookcases I am using.

*10173 The shelves are wide enough and deep enough to take Artbin Super Satchel type storage boxes for 12 x 12 paper and cardstock. I also bought three cube storage boxes that will take 12 x 12 if necessary....can't find the link at the moment. Also bought some lightweight curtains for the bedroom...very pretty lace for summer

Ouuuu I love the bed!!! Very pretty! And the lace drapes are really dreamy. What colour was the bookshelve you bought? Natural wood? I had an ikea bed when I lived in Canada. It was a bit of a problem to get sheets as North American beds have different measurements! Had to buy Ikea sheet sets or make my own! Thanks for letting us see what you got!

LOL...some of my dogs have had people names. I am afraid I don't think that

*dog* names fit shih tzu and I didn't want to go the Chinese route either. I think that in the 21 century anything goes :o) I like Allison Marie as well...shame your DH wouldn't approve. In this house we discuss things then I decide.....ROFL

Hi M-C,

Sorry, I just realised this should probably have been OT.....although bookshelf was for craftroom. Have added it anyway just to confuse ya'll further.....LOLOL

The bookshelf is in a Brown/Black finish that looks more like stained wood than their normal beech or pine look. As we live in an old property the Scandinavian style would look out of character and although I can admire and appreciate it, it is not particularly my thing! This finish seems to be new since my last visit to Ikea so I guess it is the latest fashion....LOL...anyway it will sure fit with my current furniture, which is a mahogany finish.....a little darker than the cherry finish in the US.

I know that the Ikea beds are larger than UK beds also but we have a double and I use king-size fitted sheets to accommodate my down-feather mattress topper...or my marshmallow as I call it, so they fit the new bed just the same. The drapes will wait a little to go up as I plan to give most of the house a new like of paint, starting very soon!!!! Want to get rid of the winter blues and there is nothing nicer than fresh paint and light weight drapes to lift the spirits :o)

Hi Judy,

I tried to email you a lengthy description of how I do it but it bounced twice. Anyway, I see you have managed to work out the stitching process. It gets much easier with practise and I find the final result much clearer than digi photographs, particularly if you are working with blurry photos like me.....LOL I am a lousy photographer but some of my pictures are recovered from the magnetic albums and needed some restoration and enlarging from the

3 1/2 x 3 1/2 originals, to be usable.

Thanks Marilyn! Yes, I followed your advice and downloaded free software called Panostitch, which worked great! Not half as difficult as I thought it would be. I'm still playing around with all the options, but I'm getting there. And I agree, the results are much better than the digi-pics I took, they were all either "glaring" and "blurry" or resembled a "pyramid" shape....lol!

I changed my email settings recently because of my surname (long story) and the idiot with the crank postings in here. Don't want to be an easy target! LOL Check your mail in half an hour or so! Oh yes...don't know if you follow cricket, but our sincere apologies, if you do! *g* *ducks quickly* ;)))))

Hi Marilyn

Welcome to the group:>)

Great site you have there! I love your craft room, but please tell me you cleaned it for the pictures! I think it's against the law to have a scrap area that tidy!!(LOL)

Your dogs are adorable!:>)

Thanks Trish for the welcome and NO I didn't clean up for the photos...LOL I took them just after I had started using the newly created craftroom....before I messied it all up....LOLOL I do try to keep it fairly tidy though by clearing up at the end of the day. However, it is nice to just walk away and leave everything if someone comes in or at mealtimes, etc. Nothing worse than having to clear that dining table so the family can eat.....ha, ha, ha!!!!

Sounds like a great way to get rid of the "February Blues", but it also sounds like it requires a heck of a lot of energy!!! I'm in a minimum work phase, thank goodness! The last year has been pretty hectic! I hope you'll share some of the final results!

hahaha yeah usually we do the same here "we discuss things then I decide," but I named my son after he wouldn't help pick out names saying "we have over a month before you're due." Then my water broke the next day. On the way to the hospital I said this is how it's going to be Christina Marie if it's a girl and Erik if it's a boy. He said, "Yes, dear" on this day and it was a boy. I felt the minorest of twinges of guilt for taking over on that day and let him pick out her middle name.

I'm off to work on my valentines and maybe take a nap later. Had one of those "hubby not home, dogs keep barking, freaking me out" kind of nights. I'm SO tired right now and it's 9am.

You're right craft shelving on topic. hehe

I went to Ikea in December and actually got 99 percent of the really cool stuff I bought up and installed. I buy some things, because they are so cool and then don't get them put up. BAD!

I loved looking at your links. Thanks for sharing. The shelving you bought is something I seriously thought of buying for my craftroom, but I had no measurements and wasn't sure it would fit. It's a really nice piece in person.

Lynne,

I am desperate to have the IKEA bookshelves built so I can reorganise. This unit has been really popular with scrappers in the UK. I first saw it on the ukscappers board and several of the women have it for storing their supplies. It is apparently terrific for 12 X 12 storage, whereas standard bookshelves normally struggle with it. I store my paperboxes of A4 on the normal shelf but the Artbin Super Satchels stuck out too far. I have other storage boxes that won't fit either so I hope this will solve the issue for me. I will let you know when it is up and functioning....LOL

Is that what dining room tables are for...eating? Mine hasn't seen a meal on it for several months! Luckily hubby doesn't mind tv trays, especially when The Simpsons are on!

Cathy

LOL...we often eat from trays also.
