Have fun! I loved London I was only there for 2 days on a layover but it was fun! Didn't scrapbook back then so I can't help ya there. They serve fish and chips wrapped in newspaper-so good try it if you get the chance! The churches are amazing to see! Have fun! Barb:o)

Thanks Barb! I hope I get to enjoy the wonderful city at least a little while I am there. I think most of my week will be long work hours though. I will definitely look for some fish and chips. Thanks for the suggestion.

I spent a summer in London about 12 years ago, and it's an amazing city. I had some culture shcok at first, because I had romantic notions of the city, and was blown away by the number of KFC, MickyD's and Burger King's there were! It is a big city, like any other in many ways - and it's also a wonderful city that is tons of fun to explore.

The tube is pretty easy, once you get used the the maps being "upside-down," and there is lots to see!

I don't know of any scrapbooking stores, maybe one of our UK listees will.

However, I guess I would suggest sightseeing, gathering souviners and using those to scrapbook, and if you find an LSS along the way - great! But there may not be that much different to see in an LSS, and lots to see in London you can't fine anywhere else.

Can I stow away in your luggage for London? LOL I can't help you with an LSS there, because like you I haven't ventured very far. Except, I've been to Juarez, Mexico many many times due to livng in El Paso for a few years and my grandparents living there since the 60's. It was a normal thing for them to take us to Juarez for a day when we went to go see them. I'll be praying for a very uneventful trip for you. Travelling is always interesting, but doubly interesting when you're going to a country you've never been to before! Hopefully you'll have some fun while you're there, though!

Have a great time. If you have time, take a Thames river cruise or a ride on the London Eye. Both were lots of fun and a great way to see lots of things in a short amount of time.

Unfortunately I didn't have a chance to look for and scrapbooking stores while we were there!

My time in London amounts to 4 hours in Heathrow on the way to Scotland in 2001 & part of an afternoon & evening (spent the night before flying out in the morning) on the way back. Only got to do a quick run past Buckingham Palace (the queen wouldn't come out & say hi, darn it ) &

I'm jealous too!!! I want to go....maybe I need to come work with you afterall..lol. Take lots of pics for us, I want to see the palace, that big clock, oh, and what's that tower that's supposedly haunted??? I agree with just taking pics and using the souvineers for scrapping..

Tammy, I envy your London trip. I was there with one of my daughters and we had a wonderul time. We stayed at a hostel with six other people in our dorm and it was so much fun. There was a young man with his Mum and two German girls and two other Aussies. We were the only Yanks. We were pretty much the tourists, rode the double deckers and the Underground, saw the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace and the Queen was in residence ( The flag was flying) Toured Westminister Abby..wonderful old place.. and just soaked up the local color. We ate in a Pub and fish and chips were not very good. Best food we had was from a deli.

Oh, I forgot to say that I made a great album from my pictures...Big Ben,London bridges,the changing of the guards...so colorful and I was very pleased with how they came out. We were in Paris at the time we went to London so my album has the Paris stuff ,too. You will have so much fun !

The last time I was in London was 8+ years ago, on a day trip from Paris. Sorry I can't help with a store suggestion! We spent most of the day at the Tower of London. The time before that was a longer trip, but it was nearly 20 years ago, so again, I'm not that helpful.

I'll tell you what I did though - even 20 years ago and I still do it today. I made a point to collect postcards. I went back and did my London scrapbook from '87 a few years back, and while I have no embellishments that came from there, I was able to make some very beautiful pages just focusing on colors fromthe postcards. And of course, those postcards are so much more beautiful than the pictures I was able to take with my little pink camera that used disk film (anyone remember those?) LOL.

One last thought though - as hot as scrapbooking has become, I wouldn't be at all surprised if you could find scrapbook-y stuff at most of the gift shops for the major attractions. Oh, and don't forget to pick up brochures at the hotel - those often have great pictures and tell a little history - and they're free!

Tammy -- I know you will have an awesome trip. I lived in London for 2 years (1998 - 2000). My DS was born in Croydon (a London suburb). My office window looked out at the Tower of London wall.

There is SOOOO much to see.

Regarding LSS, don't expect much. Your best chance is to go to one of the larger shopping stores (most are clothing stores). Look for their craft department -- it will be really small. This is where they'll have things like cross-stick, knitting, etc. You'll find things embellishments that are not scrapbook specific. Don't expect much in terms of paper.

My friend was there two years ago for a weeks vacation. I found her London, UK paper and vellum at Ben Franklin. Some of it had maps and things like that. Sandy
