Memorial Book

Hey all - sorry, I've been off list lately. Lots and lots going on, and scrapbooking ahs had to take a boack door the last couple weeks.

Jessie's Accident has me in shock, and concern, my prayers are going out to her and her family.

There seems to be so much death and suffering lately. With the new earthquake in Indonesia, the passing of the pope, a major accident (7 car pile up due to a domsetic dispute) in front of my house, and the drummer to my favorite band killed himself suddenly last week.

It's kinda got me thinking about dark things lately. So, I apologize if I sound too depressed.

The passing of Paul Hester (drummer for Corwded House. "Crowded Who?" you may ask - they had one hit song in the US in the 80's - DOn't Dream It's Over" you'd know it if you heard it) really affected me. Maybe it's the fan newsgroup I'm on and the 600+ emails I've read about it, or the fact that suicides always shock me, or the fact that I've been a major fan and their music has been the soundtrack for my life for almost 20 years.

So, since there have been numerous posts on the fan group, and articles around the world, I thought I would create an altered book memorial book in his honor to send to his family. I've asked for peices of Memorobelia from other fans.

Anyway, having never actually doing an altered book before, I wondered if any of you wonderful folks have any ideas/suggestions?

My current "vision" is to put a picture of him on the cover, artistically, and scan a bunch of album art to use for the backgrounds, printing out testemonial/memorials/emails/stories/articles and interspersing pics of memorobilia and of Hessie himself in the album.

He was a clown, and a joker, and a fabulous musician, and I need to do something for his partner and 2 daughters.

In the meantime, perhaps we can put our creative talents to work for a simialr gift for Jessie? Not a memorial of course, but a giant GET WELL card of sorts, say, a variety of pages?

Just a thought! She welcomed me, and is such a generous soul.

Thanks for all your help and advice,

Jessica

I think both are great ideas Jessica. The song sounds familiar. Sorry to hear the passing of Paul Hester it affected you so much. I'll keep you and his family in my thoughts.

Hey, Jessica.

As your friend I'd say, stop reading everybody's outpouring emails. When we saturate ourselves in sadness we become depressed. As a fellow scrapper, here's a link Scrapaloha gave me a while back. It's a link to an altered book gallery... maybe you can saturate your creative juices and become inspired. I love you. Keep your chin up. If you need to talk you can call the house that's where I am these nights (Alta has the number). Can't wait till you can come out. We should "do lunch."

Thanks Teresa. I think putting these books together will be theraputic, and a way to give back something.
